YT 500 Club Member | Finally gettin some love Toby the Tyrant,( Prof. Sumo Yorkie) has adapted to our home just fine, but the only issue was lack real interest in us other than as a form of entertainment. He is kind of a loner. Maybe all that time he spent in his seperated pen with the last owners made him a little too comfortable with his own company, I don't know. But he has finally started cuddling up to me at night and last night he crawled up onto my chest and curled up with his face in my neck and slept soundly for hours. In fact he's curled up on my feet while I'm writing this. That makes me feel good. I was feeling a tad bit ugly there for a while with how detached he was with us. When he's out of energy he sure is sweet... |

| When I brought Teddy home, he actually pretended to be asleep (or was he playing dead?) the whole 2 hour drive. My teen kept telling me he was awake and just pretending but I didn't believe it until I caught him closing his eyes whenever I'd look at him..haha. He also virtually ignores me unless I leave the room and he follows me around the house. Yet, if I bend down to pet him?.. he runs away.. However, when I leave the house..he howls. When we're out for a walk, it's me he follows. I think he shows his love in a very aloof way and I bet yours is the same! It's a deeper love .. That's what I tell myself to help me sleep at night anyway..haha! |

| my lil adopted 3 y/o old Cody who was much loved by prev. owner & entire family was allowed to sleep on the bed. Obviously he was NOT ALLOWED to sleep next to them, because when I got him, every night in bed I would drag him off my extra pillows and press him against my chest to show him it's ok to sleep close to me. 6 weeks ago he started to sleep at the top of the pillow I use, his paws resting on my head, such an awesome feeling. That lasted for 2 weeks, then he accepted my invitation to come under my blankie, after owning him for 11 months he now looks forward to sleeping with his momma under the blankie pressed against my chest, now he is really mine. He did trust me all those months, but 3 years of training NOT to sleep near ppl needed time and reassurance it was ok to do sleep next to me. Like lynzy420 suggested, walk around with him pressed against your chest, even if he'll only stay a few minutes, he will feel your love for him. It may take a little while, I worked with Cody for 11 months, Sumo is just a baby, he is already showing signs. Patience & consistency are the key factors.

| Aww, glad you are starting to get some love. I think it takes awhile. I do have a girl that we call Little Miss Independent because she is kind of like that too. She wants to be in the same room, but not always right next to us. It is her way to love us I think.
