| Coat genetics? Bruiser's sire and dam are both silky. He is very cottony..... extremely cottony. I brush him everyday and night to save from matting. Will this change the older he gets or will he stay cotton? All of his litter mates were also cotton. Attached a pic. 11 weeks yesterday.

| At 11 weeks they are all pretty much cottony! Experienced breeders can see tale-tell signs that can help predict the texture of the adult coat. With both parents having a silk coat the odds are good (but not guaranteed) that yours will have a silk coat, too.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Joey's silky now, but boy did he use to tangle, especially under his arms. I think around the age of 11 months I noticed his coat stopped matting. My other little boy has more of a cotton coat, and it's so much more work.

| It honestly is the dark hair. The cooper is more silky. I just can't resist posting pictures of him. ( my husband said my fb is a shrine) you guys are probably right. It's the puppy fur.

| One of my dogs was very silly as a puppy and stayed that way while two others were more cottony and turned silky. I have one with a cotton coat. He's very cute but I hate his coat.
