| Yorkie Coats Hi, this is my first post as a member. Does anyone out there know if there is a way to tell what type of coat a Yorkie will have when it is a pup? Is there a way to tell if the pup will have a "cotton coat" or a silky coat? Thanks |

| I've read up on this a little while back but am not sure how accurate it is. I've heard that if the shine in their eyes reflects back blue/green, they have silky coat, but if it's red/orange-ish it's cotton. I've also heard otherwise sometimes. Another describes cotton coated yorkies, as yorkies that look bigger than they are and sometimes the coat is a little curly/wavy. Silky coats were described as fine and just hangs straight down. My girl seems to fit the cotton coat so far in just about all way, but that might change when she gets older, cause I also hear you won't know for sure till their coat fully matures.

| Usually if the coat is a real thick coat its going to be cotton if its thinner and slower to grow its going to be silky. Im no coat expert that is just from my experience

| Teddy has SO much hair. It's all curly/wavy and it's very thick. He looks like he's a big chubby yorkie, but he's very small under all that hair. So he's got a cotton coat going on, not sure if he'll always have it since coats change. |

| Take a picture of your baby. Green eye shine typically lends to the belief that the yorkie will have a nice silky coat. Red eye shine typically will be more cottony. I've seen this hold true so go for it.
