| Question About Heartgard Plz Help! I brought Marley to the vet today and he got heartgard the chewables. It came with six in a box i was wondering If anybody knew how much of it to give him? The whole tablet or just half?? I should have asked this question before hand but i gave him a whole one because it didnt say anywhere on the box to give half. So please help me I hope i didnt give him too much. Are they supposed to get one whole one? |

| I give Nikko the whole thing also, once a month. It takes him a while to eat it because they are kind of big but I was never told to give half.

| I would call your vet. When Logan was a pup weighing 5 lbs. We were told to give a quarter once a month. On the package it should say 1/20lbs or something. but I would call your vet.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | You have to give the size by the weight of the animal - From what my vet told me - IF you divide them up you may miss out on the medicine - it's not evenly distributed ... so you do have to give them the whole piece..... |

| Pixie gets the whole thing... Because it's so big, I'll cut it up into little peices and either use 'em in our *attempted* training sessions or just mix the bits in with her PM feeding. She'd eat it whole if I gave it to her that way though. She thinks it's just a big chewy treat! |

| I too went to the vet yesterday and my Lil Pepa was given that huge pill (heartguard), the box said up to 20 pounds. Well yesterday when the vet weighed her she was at at 2.5 pounds. That chew pill seems alot to give her at this time, I didn't call the vet but would like to know from experienced yorkie members what they think. Right now I just gave up a little bit of it. |

| We use Interceptor year round here, they are a very tiny pill and is easily swallowed by our two 5 lb. babies. Its always safer to check with your individual vet. Last edited by Yorkie24U; 01-10-2006 at 07:05 PM. |
