And the titers prove immunity. |

And I can attest that my half vaccines were effective at creating immunity in the litter we had. I know there's a whole thing about breeders vaccinating themselves and all that, but I was more comfortable doing it myself, doing half doses, and knowing that the girls were healthy and not over vaccinated. I started them at the earliest, because we had Parvo in the house 3 years ago with Noah, and I was scared it would be an issue, especially since Allie went all mommie dearest on us and didn't want to have anything to do with them and they didn't get much needed mommy milk and immunities from her. We limited visitors, the entire puppy area was quarantined, cleaned, clean and cleaned again, and anyone entering that area had to leave their shoes outside, wash their hands before going in, and be spritzed with virkon. I wasn't taking any unnessacary chances. I didn't want them in a vets office, getting who knows what germs and diseases any more than needed. They were vet checked, tails docked and dew claws removed, and then vet checked again before going to new homes. Everything else was handled by me. |

thank you [QUOTE=chachi;4487881]Now someone on here that believed in holistic practices believed and recommended to someone on here to cure mange with peroxide rather than medications which is lunacy. I would research and dont just jump into it I believe some holistic vets may be okay and see vaccinations and medications are needed but I know from being on here and reading threads that some are fanatical too so dont get caught up in that[/QUOTE Well put. It would be nice to think we could find a holistic approach to everything, but sometimes modern medicine is the logical choice. |

Holistic - a much malaligned term I agree that not only in the doggie world, but in the human world, holistic has become some sort of buzz word, and really has no universally acceptable practice discipline. If I remember someone said $3K for an un-registered puppy? You gotta be kidding me! Why so expensive? In terms of 5 or 10 or even more years health guarantee, that is fine, if it truly is a health guarantee that means something. But baring the financial costs of an ill puppy or dog, there is the real emotional toll on the owners, and the suffering of the dog to take into consideration. You would need to examine very carefully the health practices of this or any breeder, and understand for you, what is important to be done and have had done, at what ages, etc. |
