hmmmm....well I think you would definitely be safe to ask a vet...and if you have mentioned it before and gotten no concern I might think about a different vet....in small dogs everything should at least get a look!! I hope its just allergies or her being a piggie with her water and getting a little "down the wrong pipe" response! what color are her gums? sometimes with collapsed trachea their gums have kind of a blue tint to them....

Do you know how a collapse tracheal is treated?

The vet I worked for (depending on the severity)would treat with anything from cough syrup to some sort of bronchodilators (sp)

I listened to all the videos and none of them made the same sounds as Sophie does. Could it be allergies? I have noticed she has been chewing on her paws and scratching some. I bath her today and I do not see anything on her to make her scratch.

My dog does that too he is 5 months old. My vet said it is collapse trachea. He does it when he drinks but also when he gets very excited and is playing with his toys. Your puppys sounds real deep. My puppies is more of a quick gag and not that deep. I hope it goes away for all our puppies.

deedeebear my Sammie is 5 months old and he does it too. Sometimes when he is playing and sometimes when he drinks. He also itches a lot. Does any of your dogs itch a lot? I wonder if it is allergy related.

Allergies or maybe asthma or both?

I have an appt with the vet tomorrow to discuss this and another issue with her lower canine tooth growing wrong. I will see what she says and let you all know.
