| ![]() I have read a few posts that mentioned when they have been away for a while their baby isn't very happy to see them. I'm leaving tomorrow for 6 days and Gizmo will be staying at my place with my bf. I'm worried he will not be as attached to me as he is now. How can I avoid this? I am leaving a top for him so he has something with my scent on it. Just thinking about his makes be tear up. ![]() |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | ![]() Awww, I totally hear you...it's SO hard for me to leave my babies, I just hate leaving them! Try not to worry, your kiddo will be just fine and will love you just the same when you return. I was going to suggest leaving clothing w/ your scent on it, but you already got that covered ![]() ![]()

| ![]() He may act odd or disengaged at first when you see him again and even for a while after you come home but very soon, he'll see that life is back to normal again and he will be, too. Tibbe is one of those who totally ignores me when I come to pick him up from the vet(he absolutely adores going to the vet - strains in my arms toward them as he sees the front door approaching and still more once we get closer to the front counter) or staying with someone and is detached in the car on the way home and even in the house for a short while until he checks everything out and sees that all is normal again and then he comes around for a loving session and usually falls sound asleep for hours. It's odd because when I leave him home alone, his greeting is bombastic every time I walk in the door, with celebration and so many kisses and whines and excitement - but you let me leave him anywhere and go off, I definitely feel his displeasure or disorientation or whatever it is when I pick him up. But he's himself within 5 - 15 minutes of getting his feet on the floor at home and deciding life as he knew it is back on track.

| ![]() Gizmo is doing well. Hes not eating much on his own but my bf is hand feeding him to make sure he eats enough. He is sleeping with one of my tee shirts at night. I miss him so much. Just typing this is making me tear up. ![]() |

| ![]() It's really hard to leave them.. I know the feeling. I went on vacation 2 months ago and left my pup with my mom. My mom told me that Chloe didn't really eat as much when I was gone and she kept barking at the door for every little sound thinking it's me. I really missed her but the time did go by and before I knew it I was home with her! She was very excited to see me, as I'm sure your baby will be too.. but.. I do agree that they act a little different for a little bit. Chloe followed me around the house everywhere and was scared of staying at my moms house for about a week until she learned I'm not leaving.. then she went back to normal. She was just paranoid a bit for a week but it went away.

| ![]() When I came home my son was holding Gizmo at eye level when I walked in and we locked eyes. He just stared at me and me at him, I didn't say a word. He just looked at me for a few seconds and then it's like it clicked and he recognized me. He started squirming and couldn't get to me fast enough. He was so excited and whimpering! What a great reception! I was so afraid he was going to ignore me. Since I have been home he has been a lap dog. When he is done playing he will jump on my lap no matter how I'm sitting, he will find a way to lay down. Before he would lay on his blanket, couch, his bed pretty much anywhere but on my lap. The last time he had to lay on me was when he was nuetered and that lasted one day. I LOVE the change. ![]() |

| ![]() Here are pictures of Gizmo after his grooming on Saturday and with his girlfriend, Sachy. When we walk together Gizmo is always trying to give her kisses. Sachy is 2 years old so obviously she's a cougar. ![]() |
