I think this needs to be said, and then dropped. For good. Because I see there has been recent activity in this thread, this seems to be the best place to post. In January, I had made, I don't know, maybe my third post on YT, and I felt as if I'd been "attacked". I asked one simple question concerning the health concerns of a Yorkie singleton, and it seemed to turn into a debate about the reputability of my breeder. To question this was not appropriate in my opinion, because that's not the question I asked. At the time, I did not feel the need to defend myself or my breeder, and I still don't. She is a fine breeder (well I should say was, because she has retired from breeding), and despite the skepticism of her being a show dog breeder, she is. A picture of her show dog is right here on YT.

But that's not my point here. I joined YT to get valuable information regarding Yorkie puppies, because I am new to Yorkie puppyhood, not new to dogs or puppies. I did leave, and I've been gone awhile because of the responses. While I do understand this was probably out of the norm, it did hurt me because really, there were few comments after that.

So. I want to air my grievance because there seem to have been similar issues in the past. However, I will NOT respond to any comments regarding my post.. I won't perpetuate any drama this may be perceived as causing. I do want to validate though, that this kind of behavior has existed on this forum and I do feel it should be addressed.

That being said... I have my most beautiful Cedric. He is now 13.5 weeks and he is gorgeous. Being a singleton, his breeder gave him so many unique opportunities to thrive in a less than stellar environment (mom), including a 16 week old therapy dog, and he did. He is a perfect little angel. I love him so!

You say you won't respond...that's cool because I am not posting to argue with you.

I looked at the thread and see that someone was trying to help you and you took it personal. That is very common on online forums. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and can comment on something you post, whether you want to hear/read it or not. Just like I am posting now in spite of the fact you don't want it.

A. I personally would not get a yorkie puppy from a breeder at 9 weeks of age because of the known problems that can occur.

B. Just because a person "championed" a dog, does not mean they are reputable. There is SO much more to breeding than that.

Now, as to the problem you are having, I would tell you to email it and I would fix it for you but it wouldn't help you. Perhaps this will help you figure it out:

As to the other problem.....you will find that people will post things you don't like on your threads from time to time . Try to just "take what you can use and leave the rest behind" as otherwise it can really get to you......OR just put that person on ignore if you find yourself unable to do that. Of course, if someone breaks rules, you can always report them. Just use the exclamation point in the bottom left corner of the post.

All that was trying to be done was to help you. You took it personally maybe because I was right who knows. Just because a breeder shows does not make them reputable. I have heard of show breeders breeding dogs with Luxating Patella and all you have to do is look at what the show world has done to so many breeds to know it’s not necessarily about health. Reputable breeders are far and few between. Reputable breeders want to make sure their pups are as healthy as possible and following the guidelines set forth on them. There are three reasons breeders let pups go to early it cost more to take care of them, they are uneducated in what is best or they just don’t care. Many of us here have been messed over by bad breeding so we try to help people not have the same happen but most wont listen until they find it out for themselves and that sadly is at the pups cost or they get lucky the first time. I am sorry you did not like what I had to say but it was true and good information. If I could at least reach one person who decides to read that thread then it’s a job well done for me. I have witnessed first hand the effects of a pup leaving Mom to soon and I have witnessed a dog suffering from bad breeding. I’m not going to argue. My facts are straight on. This forum is a place where we are all giving opinions and sometimes we get opinions we don’t like but there is sometimes very good info in those posts.

Hello Furever Lexi and welcome back to YT - very glad you've returned !

The fact you've returned is evidence to me that - 1) you care about your precious Cedric and 2) you want to learn more about yorkies through being part of a community of other yorkie-owners and 3) though your previous YT experience was upsetting, your mind is open enough to, well, stay open.

And before I proceed further, I'd just ask that you keep that #3 at top of mind please, and surround that with the idea of only good intentions - bc that's truly all I have here.

First, you are more than welcome at any time to air your grievances or feelings or opinions here at YT - but that is true of any member. That's what truly makes YT a real *community* - we have to tolerate all these opinions and differences - some of which can make us crazy at times (lol ).

But as to that sentence above that I bolded in red - I actually have to address that and clarify it for you, bc if I don't you would have very unrealistic expectations of your time here at YT. So, to that point -- just bc you "didn't ask" or mention anything about discussing your breeder - it does not mean in any way that members here cannot express an opinion about the breeder. If members see red flags about a breeder or about a situation or want to research that breeder -- they are more than welcome to do that here -- bc this is YorkieTalk after all, and we welcome all opinions as long as they follow our rules.

If you do not want to defend your breeder or respond to anything about your breeder - that's totally your decision. Just like it's completely another member's decision if they decide to post about any breeder out there, including your breeder -- and including a fact like whether your breeder releases their puppies at 9wks or such (not considered ethical with yorkies, btw).

It's not disrespectful -or- inappropriate for a member to express an opinion on your thread regarding something that perhaps you did not directly bring up yourself. This is, after all, a community *discussion* board about yorkies - so all members, including yourself, are more than welcome to discuss opinions.
