I videotaped my boys the few times they had to be home without a human and all they did was sleep and watch the door. They enjoy the doggy companionship, but they are not self-entertainers.

Yorkies love company, but they can do very well on their own. I'm confident Max would be fine on his own. Teddy needs his doggy brother in addition to his humans.

She is about 8 months old, left at home alone max a couple times a week for a few hours. This is my second Yorkie, the first one passed in October. Ali is different and I want this to be a different experience. I was way way way too attached to Shelby, it wasn't good for either one of us. Ali goes everywhere with us but it's not quite as easy. She is bigger, more sociable, likes to walk, barks when she sees another dog etc. etc. Shelby hid quietly in her purse. Like I said, I love the difference but I am wondering if this time around I should have 2. (better for both of us?)

Based on my current situation with my 2 boys, you will probably end up doubling your attachment. Instead of being super attached to just 1, you likely will find yourself super attached to 2.

We got Dixie, our first yorkie, when she was 7 months old. She weighed around 5 lbs. A few months latter we got a second yorkie, Sissy, from the same breeder. She was around 18 months old and she weighed around 9 lbs. Sissy and Dixie got along great except for the size difference. Sissy was like a bull in a china closet and at times she would just run right over Dixie but they were good friends. Later we added a couple more females that were already adults and that is when we started having some fighting issues. Yorkies have all different kinds of personalities; some get along great and some will try to be dominating and want to fight. I think having intact females is what causes most of the fighting problems and then there is the jealousy. I do think that aggression and dominance tendencies can be inherited so it is always a good idea to ask the person you are getting your pup from about the personality of the parents. I think a alpha female will often have pups that are the same way.
