| Full blooded or Mix? I just brought home my sweet puppy, Piper, who, according to what the person I got her from told me, is a full blooded yorkie. My family and I can't help but notice, however, that she is definitely lacking some yorkie features. Her snout is longer than most I've seen, her hair is thick and fluffy (almost like a pom?), and it is short, even around her face. Her ears are also down, but at 8 weeks, I know this could change. She was also 2 weeks premature, if that makes any difference. She is precious, and we are in love already, so it doesn't really matter, but I'm still curious. Does she look like a mix to you, and if so, what do you think she could be mixed with? Thanks! |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | She is CUTE ! Welcome to YT, btw. It's really hard to say -- her fur does look a little bit different than a yorkie's fur - more poofy/fluffy or something? Some others will chime in and maybe have some thoughts as to whether she is purebred. But either way, she sure looks like a keeper !

| welcome to YT, lil Piper sure is a lil cutie, I see the yorkie coloring, but have to agree with Wylie's Mom the fur looks diff. but it's a picture kinda hard to really see. I had 2 yorkies with floppy ears, lots of yorkies ears don't stand up. My last girl girl was a big girl, 17 lbs, she had a long snout also, I got her at 8 weeks old and her snout was long. In one of the pic, the close up one, if I had to make a guess if she is mixed, I would say perhaps could be part chihuahua because of the big oval eyes. One of my floppy ears girls I also got her at 8 weeks, she had crazy thick hair that changed as she got older. There will be others to give their opinion. I am happy to know, regardless of her breed, you love her and she is in her furever home. Love and enjoy her.

| Thank you for the responses! I wondered about the chihuahua possibility too, but the more pics I look at, the more I think she looks like a yorkie/dachshund mix. Either way, she is my baby, and I love her! : ) |

| Here us my ZoE at 8 weeks old. She wasn't "fluffy" as a young puppy either.

| Laddy was very fluffy at 9 weeks lol let me see if I can find his most embarassing pic with the pink bow lol. The other is Kyra at 7 weeks so to me your little one looks Yorkie.

| I've seen a "dorkie" that looks similar to this. that's daschund/yorkie mix. But she does look very yorkie, just her coat/coloring seems very defined. She doesn't look as fluffy in the face and the hair is very smooth. hard to say as we've had yorkies before that weren't "standard". A longer snout isn't as much an issue as our past female had a longer snout. Hard to say unless you get a DNA test done.
