Then I tried putting her in bed with us instead of back in her crate after her 5am pee. It worked! She started sleeping 'til 8:30! | |

| Sorry but this is cracking me up...I remember when my son was an infant and I wanted the answers to get him back to sleep when he wanted to get up for the day at 4:30am...I remember that feeling still and he is 17! The kid never slept good until he became a teenager!!

| Lola keeps our hours but likes to sleep in. We get up at 5:45 just about every day, I lift her off our bed and put her in one of her own beds, most days I have to rouse her to take her out to potty, if not she will lay there till around 11 AM The early mornings might change as he gets older, but I would try my best to get him on your schedule, you say he goes to bed around 8 or 8:30 what time do you go to bed, if it is much later than that then I would wake him up to go potty just before you go to bed, then put him right back in his crate. Also if you don't think he has to go to the bathroom real bad at 5:30 you could wait a little while before letting him out, just like with babies sometimes you have to let them cry a bit and not just snatch them up from their crib when they start to cry. Dogs and babies that get picked up the moment they start crying learn fast how to train their parents
