Gene, please stick around. The reprimanding posts were directed at me for what I said. Sorry to everyone who flipped out but no collar and no microchip tells me an owner was not doing EVERYTHING they could to protect their pup in case it ever got lost.

Collar could have fallen off and some people won't chip there dogs for many reasons and it doesn't meant they don't love them. Everyone on this board who knows me know I love Callie more then my own life but I will not micro chip her so be careful how you judge!

Read the entire post. We also took her to the Vet, heartworm test and
meds, rabies vaccine, de-wormed(she was full of them). So yes, you does
look well cared for now. We continue to search for her owners, contrary to
what lynzy and megansmomma believe.

I have asked the mods to remove the Facebook images as they are private and have been taken illegally.

Anyone else? Bring it on. We are innocent and will continue to dispute anyone who claims otherwise.

Passion for finding rightful owners is one thing, but I believe there are some here who need to spend more time with their fur babies than on the computer.

We are off to canvas the neighborhood again now that the rain has stopped.

How strange that this has happened yet again here today.... Have you checked Craigslist etc?

It seems this pup, housebroken and all, has come from a family who cared. Yorkies are not easy to potty train so they obviously spent a good amount of time training this pup. I can't imagine they aren't missing their baby.

I'm glad your taking good care of this lost pup but I hope you continue to look for the owners. We've had pups missing weeks, months and yes years find their way back home.

I totally agree"..she could have been missing for weeks or maybe a month and that's why she's stinky and matted. I suggest keep looking too.
It so funny cause I just saw on people's court where a lady found a puppy and after three weeks took the dog to the vet to get shots and two days later they where approached by the owner At the dog park. Turns out they lived in the same neighborhood and they had been looking for three weeks... They had to release the dog and they family was torn. The owners were mad because they gave the dog vaccinations when the puppy was current on all his shots..
Just keep looking, don't want u to be heart broken it the owners show up.
Your in a tough situation

lynzy420, I have indeed checked craigslist and have canvased the
neighborhood twice a week for the past 4 weeks. I would never keep a pet
from her family. I could have just taken her to the shelter where they would
have put her down. We have tried everything we could to try and find this
little girls owners. We have spent many hours looking, posting flyers and
visiting Vets in the area. But I guess that is not good enough and yes I know
it does not take long for them to get matted, stinky and dirty.

I guess we are not welcome here after all.

Disappointed.

What are the laws in your city. Theres only so much a person can do. Just check your laws before u pour all your love into her (which is so easy to do)..u don't want her torn from you.

week. Yes, I have had many dogs in the past and have seen them get the
way you stated in less than 6hrs. My comments about the previous family is
why are they not looking as hard as we are. If they show up they are
welcome to take her back. AS I STATED, we would never keep her from her
original family. But as it seems you do not feel we have done enough what
would you suggest? Would you have spent hundreds of dollars to make
sure she was healthy? Would you walk with her every night for the past 4
weeks asking people if this was their dog or if they knew someone who had
lost her? Would you go to 10 different Vets searching?

We believe we have put forth a greater effort to find her original home. No
one seems to know or want her. We have done more than most. We will
keep her here and healthy, should the original owner show up and want her
back we will give her up. In the mean time we will keep her safe and learn
about Yorkies from somewhere else.

Some welcome. Sheez.

Hope nothing I said hurt your feelings, if so I'm sorry. I was just looking out for your feelings. I understand u can't look forever. Trite of the matter is some people do get tired of pets and drop them off in the middle of no where. I'm happy you doing so much for her. It shows you have a good heart so therefore I don't want you to leave YT.

This thread proves that you cannot always trust what people post. It's interesting what people will post when they think others will believe it.

Oh wow...I don't even know what to think or believe. My only concern is this pups wellbeing. I do hope and pray she is just safe from harm...

I obviously do not know some things that are being discussed but can relate to finding a stray.

We picked up a stray in 2009 and tried to find her owners and could not. I even asked Jodi for some tips and you were so kind to help me, Jodi, with the details. Now sweet Vivi has been with us for 5 years. I am sure someone's heart was broken and I am sorry for that, but glad she has a good home.

Hope things work out one way or the other with this little one.

I don't think having a pup without a micro chip is a cardinal sin. Some people who find a dog won't check for a chip anyway. However I do think it is a good idea as a way of finding owners. If everyone would really check it. But we all know that some will just keep the dog and never bother to check.

After checking animal control laws in Illinois, it looks like microchipping is the law here, at least in Champaign Country. If a dog is turned in to Animal Control and the owner shows up to claim it, microchipping is mandatory in order to get your dog back.

Well that's good. To ensure the owner gets the dog not someone else. Do they have to check it if not turned in to animal control?

From what I could find online (a study of case law), the chattel laws for stray animals in Illinois apply only to farm animals, so it's the law of the jungle for dogs and cats, unless they are turned in to animal control. If someone finds a stray dog or cat, I don't *think* that they are obligated to turn them in to animal control. If a person is going to keep the animal themselves while looking for the owner, I don't *think* that they are obligated to check for a microchip, but the responsible person would at least take the animal in to the vet to have it scanned for a chip. After my experience with turning in a stray cat, I would be very leery about turning an animal in to animal control, because they are quick to have animals euthanized :(.

Thank you Lisa I remember when you found Vivi. I can't believe it's been 5 years already. She's a sweetheart :)
