I don't think anyone was intentionally trying to make you feel unwelcome. They just want to make sure you covered all your bases, which I think you did. Who knows how far she traveled. There may well be a loving family out there missing their dog, but you did all you can to help return her to her family and all you can do is wait and hope for the best.

I'm not sure why you are being so defensive. No one was trying to say you are a bad person or did anything wrong.

I'm not trying to be rude, I'm trying to tell you I've been there and my pup ended up many, many, many miles from him and was taken in by a cop, I can not tell you how many places we searched nonstop and still kept missing her. I can tell you the reunion was extremely emotional...and if I had never found her I would never have had peace. I literally could not sleep, I looked in places that I needed a gun to look. Believe me I'm speaking from experience.

There was a dog recently found here after more than five years.

I'm not saying your NOT doing the right thing, I'm telling you a well trained dog comes from a family that cared.

that would do that? Look at the posts in this thread. I would have thought
people here would have been a little happy that this little girl didn't end up
dead on a road or worse.

Hi Gene, I felt the same as you are feeling when I first joined. On this site you have to read everything with a grain of salt. You will get replies from different members saying the same thing. I don't think they read all the replies before they reply. Some people do sound like they are attacking, but it's hard to read their tone. Everyone on here loves their babies and only want to help. I hope you will continue on this site because you will get a ton of helpful advice.

Actually, I think most people were responding to the person who said matted dog automatically equals to an abusive previous family. No where in your original posts did you state that, so the comments weren't addressed to you. As for the others offering suggestions as to where to look for her owners... I can tell you as a somewhat long time member that none of those were meant as an attack on you. You're doing a great job looking for this little girl's family! They were only trying to help. 4 weeks sounds like a long time to you, but for us old timers to this forum, we've seen forum members search years for a lost pup. In our minds we think there may be someone even miles and miles away frantically looking for their baby. So we feel for them, but we also feel for you too. Who couldn't help getting attached to these little ones. I know I couldn't! They're irresistible. :love:

been treated with the disdain I have here.

I am sorry you feel the same way. I just thought people would be happy for
the little girl.

Welcome gmohr. I want to thank you for taking care of this sweet baby and trying as hard as you have to find the owner. Hopefully you will find them. But, until then. Just love her. She is probably missing her family as much as they miss her. But, with your love she will be ok. She did not end up in a Shelter, not left out in the elements, left to be hit by a car. No. You took her in and gave her hope and love. So for this I applaude you.

Gene - WELCOME to YT :)! I'm so glad you found us and I hope you look around and find some good stuff that will help you in caring for your new kiddo. And can I say - BLESS your big hearts for taking her in and taking such beautiful care of her - thank you thank you thank you. Stray dogs often go un-caught and just keep wandering, making them worse off every day they're on their own. She is so lucky to have found you!! :)

Btw, you did an awesome job of trying to find her owner - that's basically what I do too when I find a stray - call the shelter, do CraigsList, put up posters etcetera.

It sounds like you and your wife have been adopted ;). You'll have to post a picture of her at some point, would love to see her.

I don't think that you understand who posts work. When someone quotes a member they are pointing out/directing a response to that particular person and addressing what that particular person posted. If you go back and read you will see that is exactly that is going on here. But I did check Craigslist and there are several Yorkies in your area that have been posted being lost. Did you happen to follow the links to take a look if any of them are your girl?
