Their blood machine doesn't run on weekends!😱 |
My thoughts and prayers for Zoey. We don't have an ER vet anywhere close either. Luckily the time I needed Winston to be seen after hours his vet met us at her office. So sorry you had to leave her there all night, but sounds like it was necessary. Hope and pray tomorrow will bring much improvement in her well being. |

Maybe they will mention it today. The said last night they can't do blood work on weekends, the blood machine is down......whaaaaaaaaaat.??! Calling the primary vet as soon as I see how Zoey is. |
Prayers for you and Zoey. Please keep us updated, when you can. |
Thank you all for prayers Zoey is much better this morning, they say. They want to keep her on I V till this afternoon....she had no issues during night and even ate a little of their science diet for sensitive stomachs. They want to see if she will keep that down plus do blood test for pancreatitis. Waaaaa, I don't wanna leave her that long! Looks like I'm back on search for different dog food, had a terrible time finding one she would eat when I got her. |

Vet lowdown Verdict still out on pancreatitis test....but I did call the primary vet , who was in surgerys this morn....talked to the usual receptionist about what happened this weekend. Now I am an understanding person in general but I am also capable of Displaying intense scrutiny . I was NICE but to the point. I UNDERSTAND FAMILY Priorities especially on the weekends , this is what she had, track meets out of town...ok....but to totally leave your voicemail with no forwarding contact in case of emergency?! Especially when telling relatively new customers you are available in case of emergencies , using 2 phone numbers , one which is her personal phone number and also left with a recording that the voicemail is not available try again later and cuts you off. ..is not what I had in mind if I had an emergency. ....explanations of "this is what she does" when she has important engagements, you did the best thing in taking Zoey where you did, we refer 24 hour care to them , we are a small clinic and even have to send certain blood tests out while they have everything there, all the big machines we don't have here. When she asked if they could have her records from the other place I said I wasn't sure what I was going to do next, and left it go at that. |
New vet called Said Zoey does not have pancreatitis...diagnosis severe gastriolisis, gastrolitis, uhhh spell check where are you....you get it... Now do I look for a different more easily digestible dog food? She likes her Fromm duck and sweet potatoe ....I laid off the chicken since I couldn't find anything she would eat for long....ohhhhhh and I have a terrible cold a Narcissic mother to deal with:( Wants to keep her till 4 :00 preferably overnight again.....does that mean she could relapse?my poor baby ! I know she misses us.... |
Now the big question To visit or not to visit. I wanted to crawl into the cage below her to sleep last night but they just laughed...... She hasn't seen us since last night....don't know for sure if she will be coming home at 4.....they leave that decision up to US . Why , they are the dr.... Would visiting her then leaving be better or worse for her?! Do they think they are deserted? Will a little visit help or make it worse if I have to leave.. She will stick to me like glue....how can I leave that?!? This is sooooo hard! |

Zoey staying overnight again😞 I called 3 times today and couldn't talk to anyone that actually took care of Zoey. They would run back and "get some information"....when I asked does she look normal, they ask what is normal, like duh your the dog experts DOG NORMAL, Perky , curious, wanting OUT of that cage, barky..... Is she eating? Oh but yes! Cause if she isn't I will make a broth water from boiled carrots and green beans and boil white rice in it and bring it to her with low fat cottage cheese ....( hey that's bland) Zoey is very picky eater I can't see her eating anything unfamiliar . They said she ate some Science Diet ID a special formula that's easy to digest. Yuk , my poor baby....and want to see if she can keep it down or how it comes out the other end....hmmmm. I told them she had white rice and cottage cheese and kept it down already.:( Anyway that's how it stands now....UPS man got away without a barky bark today and my baby girl thinks we deserted her. And not even a phone call from primary .is this the way the vet world IS?! |
I am so sorry to learn that little Zoey is in the hospital. I totally understand the mixed feelings about visiting - we felt the same way when my Gina was in the hospital for five days. We (Zoey & I) will say prayers for Zoey's complete recovery. Hope she comes home soon. |

You mentioned she was playing in the grass. Just asking if it was fertilized or anything like that. My neighbour also has a yorkie who got sick from playing in their yard after they fertilized. Hope all goes well. P.S. I slept at my vet's for 2 days when my previous OES was sick with no objection. |

And absolutely NO fertilizer or over spray anywhere near her area. Hubby got strict insructions for that, thanks for the mention anyway, I'm still in the dark as to what caused this...would eating an ant or beetle do it? |

Sophie Kate has an extremely sensitive tummy and cannot have any fats in her food at all (she has been on Hills ID for the last 2.5 with great results). |

Do you believe that...makes you wonder what goes on "back there" :( Thanks for the love and prayers.... |
Zoeys home And she is back to her old self .....bouncy, licky, alert and bright eyed and tickled to death to see us...she couldn't us lick fast enough .....all due to 36 hours of IV s, an antibiotic , and a dog food switch. Even though I took in her own (Fromm) and offered to cook some rice in vegetable broth and bring it in if she didn't eat , which I was SURE she wouldn't eat theirs . They told me on phone they gave her theirs and I didn't believe them she ate it ....she don't even like wet.....but she did, Hills prescription ID.....I fed her some here and she loved it! and I come home to a RECALL alert!!!! Not on this particular line but same company ! I am so stressed out with all this dog food research I could just scream! They are convinced it is the dog food and gave me 2 pages of their research to explain why......I will fire up the computer and do copy and pasting on here for ya so stayed tune , your going to want to hear this....I don't care now what I've heard about Science Diet , if it makes my baby well that is all that counts... I'll hurry and get this done.... |
I am very happy to hear that Zoey is better and that she is home with you! Was very worried for you and your little girl. Looking forward to reading the research they gave you about the food. We have used Fromm for years, but we use the Chicken a la veg only. It is a lower in fat and other things than the other Fromm choices. |
I am so happy Zoey is back to normal. |
thanks everyone having a little trouble scanning and getting this information back to here! I am usually on my I pad but have to do this on computer and this website doesn't accept copy and paste.....oh Ill figure it out |
So happy to see Zoey is home and back to her perky lil self. |
I'm glad to hear that Zoey is home. Please update us when you can about how she is doing. |
