| I know this is not the right place for this but My baby, Dudley, is almost 11 years old and I have fought so many illnesses to keep him alive and now I am trying again. I feel with all of you knowledgeable people on here there has to be someone who can help me. He has always eaten rolled food and both companies have now changed their formulas and he won't eat. I have tried every brand even though I know most of them are crap. He won't eat dry food at all, and I cannot find a single kind of canned that he will eat. I have given him Nutrical which caused him to have bad diarhea and have cooked all kinds of meat for him which he will only eat once in awhile. He has lost a pound already in 2 weeks or so and now weighs under 3 pounds. His normal weigh is 4 pounds. He is nothing but skin and bones. I asked this question in the health and diet section with 2 responses. They were for KD but he won't touch it. Please if you have any idea would you please respond while he is still alive? Thank you in advance for your help.

| Have you tried natures recipe wet food? Lola seems to like that brand best, she likes the little tubs of chicken and the short cans of stew. She won't eat her wet food unless I put some fresh meat on it or top a different wet food with the chicken tubs. (The chicken tubs aren't the cheapest and I want her to eat other proteins) She also likes Fromm and Spring wet food. |

| This is so sad. I'm no expert but if I were at this point I would try any kind of people food I could think of: bologna, liverwurst, cheese, eggs, ice cream. (Yes, I know these aren't recommended foods but this pup needs anything at this point. If something were found that he loved, that could then be mixed in with something more nutritious.) There's just got to be something Dudley will eat. Is there a medication that makes them hungry I wonder? Good luck to you & sweet Dudley.

| I did try the food but he refuses to eat chicken. Thank you. I have tried every brand. I take 6 or 7 home at a time and return them after a few tries. |

| I would try to get him to eat anything not just dog food. If he wont eat anything there is something physically wrong with him that he wont eat and he needs to see a vet. One time there was a dog on here that wouldnt eat anything and the owner took her to the vet and she was in kidney failure so I wouldnt fool around with this if you cant get him to eat take him to the vet it could be a sign somethings wrong

| He really needs to see a vet as soon as possible to make sure their is nothing physically wrong with him rather he just doesn't like the food anymore. If they don't offer it, request that they do bloodwork on him and possibly xrays. Good luck, I hope your little boy is feeling better soon. |

| Thank you for your concern. I agree and have made an appointment with our vet. He has started to vomit so think he is in trouble. He does have kidney failure and last year was diagnosed with elevated liver enzymes. He is on medication for both and has been thriving until this thing with his food. | I would have a vet check there could be something else causing him not to eat.

| Dudley is probably nauseous because he may not be able to filter out the poisons in his system. Cerenia would probably help him, and there is also an appetite stimulant, but treating the cause is more likely a better long term solution. You and Dudley will be in my prayers. Normally I'd say to try to give him anything that he can safely handle, but his liver and kidney issues probably affect what is safe for Dudley to eat. I wish you many more loving, precious with Dudley and hope his health improves greatly.

My concern is that he could be in end stage renal or liver failure and there is no way you are going to want to force food on a pup that sick. As sad as it is to think about, sometimes they know when it is time before we do. I hope that is not the case here and your vet can get him to turn around. What I will say is that feeding him all sorts of people food could make him sicker. I know someone suggested in your other thread that you do a consult with a vet nutritionist...that was actually good advice. I did that for one of my pups who was in renal failure and between that diet and the Mirtazapine he got another six months of life. He was almost a goner when I went to her, so I do recommend it if your vet feels Dudley has some time left. I will say a prayer for Dudley. I hope your visit with the vet goes well and I hope it is tomorrow!. I wish I had seen this earlier...I think you should have gotten him in today. Sometimes you need to insist and let the people at the vet know how sick the pup is.
