| My 8 week old yorkie won't eat on her own Hi. Im new to the forum and recently got my first yorkie puppy Chloe. She had a hypoglycemic episode last week and quit eating. We are now having to syringe feed her every 2 hours until she starts eating on her own again. (Per vets ordwrs) Any ideas on how to get her to eat? She was eating her dry food fine prior to all this. |

| Puppies should still be with there mom until 12 weeks. Does she have any other symptoms? Have you tried soaking her food in hot water and then draining it and giving it to her? Or tried canned food?

| We are using canned food in the syringe. We are giving nutrical 3 times a day. If we don't force feed her, her sugar drops. I just wish she would eat on her own, because the force feeding stresses her so much. |

| I would get some canned food, Royal Canin has puppy mousse Starter Mousse / Size Health Nutrition / Dog Products / Products / Products / Home Royal Canin USA - Royal Canin & puppy canned food: Royal Canin® Puppy Food | Canned Food | PetSmart I would feed her anything @ this point, even boiled chicken breast (no seasonings), baby food (no onions), anything to get her to eat. Do you have nutrical or karo syrup for times when she might be having a hypoglycemic attack? Just make sure she gets some food into her after taking nutrical or karo syrup.

| Oh you posted when I was posting...how many x's are you feeding her? What did the vet say as to why she's not eating on her own?

| We are feeding 5cc. They never did say about her eating on her own. Just said if she didn't we have to force her. They gave us the food and syringes. I'm going to try and call tomorrow to ask them. |

| Have you tried putting it on your finger and letting her lick it off?

| I have tried that. She just turns her head away. She won't even drink water on her own anymore. |

| I would take her outside places where other dogs and wild animals could go or she could get parvo or something else.

| It is a fenced in backyard. She is the only dog here. We mainly stay on the patio. It is also screened in. |

| Have you talked to your breeder about the issues you are having?

| Yes. I think she may be fairly new too. She said she will never let another puppy go this early. She helped us step by step through the first sugar drop. |
