Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Has yours changed much with time? I suppose it's inevitable, but do Yorkies 'change' much in nature as they age? My daughter in law has two (mother & daughter). Mum is now four and has become much quieter, but very tranquil, in what is still for a dog equivalent to us in our mid to late twenties The Daughter at two is still very 'wired', incredibly energetic to the point of being 'in your face', but very affectionate at the same time. Crystal is almost hyper active, bursting with energy and love (interspersed by power naps). She's comically a bit bossy, loves people and rejects other dogs. Sometimes I wished she were quieter, but really wouldn't want to see her rather eccentric fun loving ways alter? Of course the timekeeper who rules as all inescapably leaves his mark, but has your Yorkie altered much over the years and in what ways? |

| I have had 4 female yorkies (all now past) all were super hyper. loved to play, run, jump. They slowed down around 9 years old. They were still playful, just not so hyper. Their personalities never changed, they just slowed down, took more naps. That's the only change I saw in mine.

Both are utterly adorable and very loving in their different ways. We just met a rather withdrawn little boy in a walker along the beach parade here. He was very shy at first, then to the amazement of his elderly owners, lunged across into my arms. Crystal hopped from one front paw to the next, 'pogo sticking' and getting very irate. However they became good pals after a while and there was much tail wagging and a few reverse snorts. Our new friend is 8 and has arthritis in his hips, but was absolutely endearing. The lady with him said his mood and rythym's are influenced very much by whom he's with. Another time, but Crystal seems to recognize her own very clearly... | Not really. After puppyhood she developed her personality and it has remained the same for 12 years. She has become more accepting of other people though. It is more a matter of slowing down, not a change in who she is.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Yeah I do find they change a little over time, it's funny. Wylie became way more loving as he got older, just really affectionate and sweet. Marcel became more bossy, but only about certain things. Pfeiffer hasn't really changed much yet. But overall, their personalities are the same.

| Good evening young man!! So strange, I was talking to my mother about precisely this just yesterday! Harry will be 4 in October, and over the past couple of months we've noticed subtle changes in him. It does depend very much on who he's with, he can be wound up or really chilled accordingly. But he seems to have reached a point where he maybe feels so safe and secure and 'knowing', that nothing seems to bother him the way they used to - even the post-lady's safe....and the man that (for some reason ) he can't stand at No.5!!!! Love and a hug to you all from Harry + I!!

| The biggest change that I have noted is that my boys sleep soundly at night. When they were younger, they were ready to go at any hour. Max gets sleepy in the evening and isn't fully awake when we take a late night trip to the grocery store. The only other change is that Teddy, the one, now considers himself Max's equal, instead of a follower.

Yesterday we took her to lunch at our favourite 'dog friendly' pub. She sat quite happily on our window seat. However, when two fellow diners left, she growled as they walked past in a most unfriendly way. As soon as they'd gone she then loved having a cuddle with the landlady (a yorkie fan). Curiouser and curiouser? | |
