It sounds to me like the employees were afraid of the man and while dementia patients can sometimes become violent it is not something that generally happens in the early stages. This man was thinking very well and calculating how he could make some extra money and maybe make his practice easier and more profitable for himself. That is not how dementia manifests in a person. A dementia patient would not have been able to continue to do surgeries and other medical procedures. His own dog had been suffering for a long period of time. This guy, to me anyway, has a mental disorder alright but he sounds more like some sort of sociopath. They can function "normally" in society but are lacking in the most basic of human empathy for anyone that may be suffering at any level. They are also very manipulative and can hid their disorder from people that are not close to them. |
Sid update: Family files $1,000,000 lawsuit against Dr. Tierce. Here's a news article with updates on Sid's story. The family is filing a one million dollar lawsuit against Dr. Tierce. I haven't read the lawsuit yet, but the article links to it: Dog's Family Files $1 Million Lawsuit Against Vet Who Kept Pet Secretly Alive | NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth Also, today Dr. Tierce goes before the Texas state veterinary board for a final decision on his license to practice. |
Here's the direct link to the lawsuit that the family is filing. It explains why they left Sid in Dr. Tierce's care for so long, and explains in greater detail the injuries that Sid allegedly suffered under Dr. Tierce's care: http://media.nbcbayarea.com/document...e-petition.pdf |
And the decision of the Texas vet board was to... Drum roll please! ... to keep Dr. Lou Tierce's license to practice veterinary medicine SUSPENDED. Details here: Fort Worth vet's license still suspended despite pleas to committee | wfaa.com Dallas - Fort Worth |
Watching a DVR'd show from last night and saw a blurb from a TV news commercial about a story they had on the late news about Dr. Tierce leaving jail holding hands with what I guess was his elderly wife, GF or relative or something. He looks just like any regular old guy unless you know what he did to those dogs and their families, not to mention his own poor old dog. Guess none of us will ever liver long enough to understand how he and those like him can do the things he's said to have done and I'm ready to believe he did. Unless the complainants, whistle-blowers and investigators are all lying, he's guilty. Wonder if the D.A. will offer him a plea because of his age or some medical condition instead of taking him to trial? |

This POS needs to have his license taken away. |
It is sad to see that more people that support innocent animals who can't speak for themselves were not there. I'm sure this vet appeared perfectly normal to many of his customers but really! Think about the charges and the evidence! |
that is horrible beyond words, how could anyone do that to a poor dog, he needs to be caged up just like the poor dog suffered |
Karma. I pray he gets what he deserves. |
What an evil and disgusting man, how come he walks? I find any cruelty to animals so upsetting to learn of as I get older. Hopefully at some stage this 'Mengele' of the Vet world will experience hell as his end draws on... |
I just wish our laws had very severe sentences for people that use, abuse or injure the weakest and most vulnerable in our society, children and animals. If they say we have no room then let out the people who commit lesser degree criminals. There was a bust of about 40 people near here for cock fighting. I bet the majority will get the charges dropped, reduced or just a small fine. Sometimes I wonder what our world would function like if women controlled things. |

wow... just such a sad case. Many of my questions about what happened are spelled out in this documents. The family trusted this POS vet... what damage has this done to the children ??? My dh has myeloma (a type of cancer ) and we go to a support group once a month. There is a member who's brother died because he would not seak proper treatment due to his fear of doctors. It is cases like this that lead to that fear. There is another member who has such blind trust in her doctor she would not question his treatment plan. We all told her to get a second opinion because it just didn't sound right to us. She also died. so sad. I know I am comparing something different than Sid's case... but I can see some similarities. |
My mother had ulcers, we ate a special diet because of that (Voodoo treatment, but still). Many years later it came out that the cure had been known for more then 20 years, but kept secret because it was less then $600 dollars (bacterial attack was cured by meds in a matter of weeks), no money in that!!! Why cure something for $600 when you can get a lifetime of regular payments, meds, office visits, tests and prescription fees, many thousands of dollars more? |
