| my first yorkie I am proud mom to my first yorkie. I have had dogs my entire life ( golden retrievers and schnauzers) plus mixed breed rescues but Lucy, 19 weeks old, is my first yorkie. So far, we have experienced low blood sugar in the early weeks, reactions to three vaccines which resulted in very low food intake and vet stays and a camping trip to the beach! Lucy is doing well now, weighs about 5 lbs and is eating with gusto. I had high hopes for Lucy in therapy work but may have to rethink that as I am unsure about future vaccines. She is a delight for both my husband and myself and we love her dearly. Lucy loves every person, dog and cat she meets. I look forward to each new day just to watch Lucy embrace it with her love of life. What a wonderful lesson our dogs teach us!! |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | CONGRATS and WELCOME! Your Lucy sounds adorable. Going forward, always give Benadryl 45mins prior to any vaccine, and that should help a ton. The vet prob already told you this.

| hello and welcome to you and lucy!! did you space out the vaccines? one at a time a month in between? that may help. Cedric had a horrible time with them when more than one was administered now we do all of them separate and it is so much better.

| vaccine reactions It was learning experience, mild reaction third distemper....severe reaction to rabies at 16 week (that was too early but vet recommended it)...then severe reaction to final distemper one week later. Benyldryl given after reactions. If I had only known....be an advocate for your dog....listen to that little voice that speaks to you |
