big or small - we love them all:) |
I hear that all the time from my one neighbor, I usually respond with a statement like "My fake dog just faked pooped in your yard, thank goodness she isn't real or I would have to clean it up" (she didn't but it sure shuts him up). Regarding the big dogs, when Sophie Kate was a little over a year old we did a 5k dog walk/run at our gym. Sophie Kate walked/ran the entire time and we came in third, in front of quite a few bigger dogs. Of course she is a maniac and wants to be lead dog all the time. |

Words uttered by my UPS man, after Sapphire gave him a major run for the money out of the yard: "Dang, I never even thought little dogs could run that fast!" I said that's why they're little... if they were big, nothing would have a chance! |

Great job coming in third on the 5k -- both you and Sophie Kate! Quote:
It's also interesting how many people think little dogs don't need a lot exercise. |

whats a real dog if not a yorkie |
I have never heard this from anyone personally. I've taken a lot of time insuring that my little dogs act like "real dogs" and not tiny monsters. Ok, ok, they do act like tiny monsters too, but only to the bigger dogs, lol, never people. Penny is so tiny, sometimes I forget that she isn't a 3 month old puppy and is 11 months now. When she does something cute or doggie, I say all the time, "Oh, she looks like a real dog!" My aunt comes back with, "What is she supposed to look like, a fake dog?" It's funny. So, maybe I'm being a "big dog person" by saying things like that. I don't known. Obviously, I would never say it to anyone else. :P |
I went to a store today and a big man was telling me he has a tiny chi and people make fun of him a lot and his gf calls it his "gay dog". He asked jokingly what kind of man has such a tiny dog and I said a secure one, I love it when big men like tiny dogs. It was obvious he loves his dog. |
Oh, I don't let this bother me much anymore as it's just guys ways of giving women tough times over our toy dogs. If one seems especially asinine in the way he talks about my small dog, I always remind them that mine won't ever maim a kid or eat the couch or totally ruin the rug with a bad bout of diarrhea while I'm away as their big "horse" they are so fond of might do! lol. Still, it's all usually done in good fun as men are as crazy in love with their big, big dogs and love to make fun of toy dog lovers. And I do too - love big dogs, that is. I love all sizes and types of dog but the Yorkie is now my favorite breed and far easier for me to live with. If Tibbe has diarrhea or vomiting, its far easier to clean up than the GSD's, Rottie's & Dobie's messes are! |

I just assume it's a typical kind of remark from an insecure man that is lacking in a particular area....you know the ones that need to compensate with big bully dogs, a car with a roaring engine, etc. to seem "manly". |

Then there's me neighbor, she's just plain nasty. She didn't even thank me for bringing her dog (golden retriever) back to her house. |
