| ![]() I don't think its healthy for Yorkies to be bred that tiny. ![]() From what I have read it is due to improper breeding and they can suffer a multitude of health problems Poor little thing. |

| ![]() I'm pretty sure she's not breeding the same dam and sire as the pup your friend bought 9 years ago. 9 years + 2 year full mature yorkie ready to breed = 11 years a sire and dam 11 years old might not even be able to reproduce. So you are buying from a diffrent sire and dam you are prone to have any problems. 5 years ago my grandmother was given a yorkie that weighed 3 1/2 pounds she had all kinds of health and behavior problems. She was aggressive of other yorkies and kids. She felt threatened because of her size. She died of cancer not to mention I still think my grandmothers paying these vet bills she charged to her card. I would not buy a puppy this size look for a pup at least 5 pounds from a reputable breeder. I have a 5 pound yorkie and believe me they are tiny at 5 pounds. My grandmother once gave me a advise- there's nothing worse than some eyes that can see... And I think with all these replys you can see clearly now. Take the advise and look else where unless you feel comfortable with a yorkie that will cost you tens of thousands of dollars in health problems. Might even be aggressive towards your other dog tiny pups feel threatened and attack larger dogs viciously in the face I mean visiously I've seen that 3 1/2 pound dog my grandmother got from my aunt almost rip off my aunts yorkie ear off. Think about it I'm just trying to warn you- open your eyes.

| ![]() I agree with what everyone else said. I hope you have lots of money put away to spend on vet bills. Just because one other person happens to have a puppy from that breeder and it happens to be healthy so far....it doesn't mean it won't have issues that show up later...and it doesn't mean your pup will be healthy either. Sometimes, there's a health reason behind why a pup is so small....and if the parents are small because there's something wrong with them genetically, there's a good chance it's going to be passed to your pup. Sorry, but no ethical breeder is going to think it's ok to breed a 3 lb female. Obviously, the people that are breeding either a.) have no idea what they are doing or b.)just don't care. At least you know what you are getting into. Any dog can get sick, but the odds are a lot greater when you have a teeny tiny. They also tend to be more fragile...something a bigger dog may easily may handle, may be too much for a smaller pup's body. Larger sized yorkies don't always have the capacity to handle things bigger breeds can handle...with super tiny yorkies, it's even worse. What worries me the most isn't that your pup will be tiny...it's that it's parents are tiny. If you were buying a pup from a breeder who bred a normal sized dog and it happened to throw a little one, that would be a totally different story...but to buy from someone who is breeding tiny dogs is a recipe for disaster and heartache down the road. |
