Penny in the paper!

I wish Penny were here with me (she's home; I'm in the office). I'm sure she'd be blushing . . . well, knowing her, perhaps not! lol.


Sex in the City:

Penny, once again represented Yorkie-Kind in the last season of "Sex In the City." Charlotte’s Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (ironically named “Penny”) was to beat out all the other toy dogs, despite being in season in a mock Westminster they called the “Astor Classic.” Penny got the “gig” by, to use the cliché which is very apt in this case, being in the “right place at the right time.”

I had just taken her with me on a beautiful sunny June day to an agility clinic. We were there for one of my other dogs, she was just along for the ride. One of the other participants was a Standard Poodle owner who shows regularly in both conformation and performance events. She noticed that Penny was in wraps. Turns out, a friend of hers is a scout for Dawn Animal Agency. A few weeks later, we got a phone call . . . they were looking for toy show dogs and needed a Yorkie in coat. A month later, we showed up at Roseland in New York City for the two-day shoot.

I love that Cavalier (Elizabeth Taylor). So did you get to meet Kristin Davis at the shoot? I am so jealous. I love that episode. The next time I watch it I am going to look out for her!

OK . . . there are two scenes. Watch for me as I'm the MUCH bigger moving target! I'm wearing a brown skirt suit and have dark long hair. Penny, of course, will be the only Yorkie but she's teeny. The first scene is where the anouncer is explaining the toy group and we are "going around." I think we were behind the Min-Pin. The second scene is where they are in the grooming area. Sara Jessica Parker, Davis and the gay friend (I don't recall his name, but I do remember his line (after hearing it 500 times) sorry) are talking, Penny and I are directly behind them (under Kristin Davis' elbow) as they are discovering that their dog is in season. Penny is on a red (of course) grooming table and I'm playing with her top knot. If you can slow the speed down - you'll see us!


Wish my connection speed wasn't so slow. I have some pics here - would be nice to post. They don't show any of the celebraties but they do show the set and the "ring."

I knew exactly which one your Yorkie was the moment you said "Sex and the City" (I'm a huuuuuuge fan)!!! How cool!!! When I saw that episode, I was squeeling to my husband and pointing out your baby!
