| Mikes started barking while playing with him since he was 8 weeks old, he also has a little bark that sounds more like a Cat's meaauhhh, that's when we know something is bothering him, either he is hungry or wants us to take him down from the bed so he can go pipi to his pad. We don't allow him to bark just because, for example, when we get home, when there is people near by, when he sees other dogs, he is quiet. He only barks at play time. But Mike is my first and Only yorkie so far, so that is the only experience I can share :-) . |

| barking My Bentley barks at people walking outside, the mailman, kids, and squirrels. Sometimes I can't figure out what, but the do start barking. They think they are guard dogs and when the figure out they are protecting you they will start barking. Took ours about 18 months. Dave |

| My Ripley is almost 5 months and she just now is starting to bark to get our attention. She does a cute growl and then a couple of barks...then full on barking. I kept thinking I don't think she's going to be a barker...I could be wrong after hearing her last night.

| Kaji's 5 years old, and still only barks occasionally. I'm not exaggerating when I say he barks once a month, if that. I quit trying to get him to bark. Instead he screams. You know how puppies bark all excited when you come home? Kaji screams and does monkey sounds. It's embarrassing! It almost sounds like someone is beating on him. I wish he would just bark!

| My Sophie first barked around 4 months when she saw herself in the mirror. Kept herself entertained for a long time. |

| Mocha learned to bark around 6 months. The trainer told us to put an immediate stop to it by telling him "bad boy" and "no". He soon realized that barking is a bad thing and doesn't bark any longer. He would bark on very rare occasions, maybe less than once a month. If you're looking for a "guard" dog that alerts you when there's people approaching or other noises, then allow her to bark. But if you don't want that, this is the perfect time to train. Once they learned to bark, then it is difficult to change later on. |

| I'll try. It's not that funny when people are staring at you.
