| A couple of questions concerning my puppy Good Morning Everyone! I have a couple questions about my my puppy Sophie. Is it normal for her to sleep a lot? She is 5 months old 3.8 lbs and she will play for a hour or two and then sleep an hour or two. How safe are the nylon bones? She is an aggressive chewer and will chew on it for a long time and last night she chewed one tip off and when I took it away she went into a frenzy trying to find it. Just hoping I can get some ideas on what to do. Thanks in advance from all who reply. |

| Thanks for the reply! Sophie had issues with diarrhea when I first got her and found out she had a parasite. The vet treated her for 4 weeks and finally she is healthy but after all that I worry. She has a great appetite and seems lively and playful when awake but she really sleep hard when she sleep. I will check into the items you recommenced for her to chew. Thanks again. |

| you're welcome Some people don't like bully sticks bc they can break teeth.....I've been using the thick ones and haven't noticed a problem |

| I don't like them cause they STINK!!! Even the ones commercialized as odor free. OP if you're sentlsitive to smells, stay away from bullys. They love that smelly stuff, but I personally can't handle it.

| I wish my almost 5 month old slept more....haha...she can play all day. Granted..she tends to conk out most of the night. I give Ripley the bully sticks. Yes...they do smell...but they are low in fat and she loves them. When she gets it down to where she can swallow them, I throw them out. I don't want her to choke on it.

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | I give Galen Nylabones. He just loves them. He is a chewer. But I only give it to him when I can supervise him.

| I bet you see a spike in your pup's energy at 6 months though. I know I certainly did with Cookie. Could be the season too, as Cookie seems to sleep more on our winter like days and then just wants to play and run around when we get a spring-like day.

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | Its perfectly normal for you pup to sleep a lot . . she is a growing baby and need plenty of nutrition and rest at this age. Don't forget the training also... they are like little sponges and they learn quick and always willing to learn. The younger you start the better results you will have. I would suggest a Kong ball for chewing. Puppies need to chew it just a fact when trying to loosen those baby teeth and make room for their adult ones.

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | I agree with Dawn. Kong toys are great. I put a little bit of natural peanut butter in it. It keeps him busy for hours lol

| Logan is 4.5 months old now and he still naps all day off and on. He sleeps through the night too. I think puppies, on top of simply being puppies, tire themselves out with all that energy they have. Logan will have bursts of energy and he'll be all wiggles for an hour or two then he will sleep for a solid hour, and repeat. haha! As for chewing, we give him bully sticks. He likes the twisty ones best, I'm guessing the texture is more fun for him. I never gave him nylabone products. I'm not against them or anything, he's just not fully house trained yet and some of the edible nylabone products can cause changes in the stool that are noooo fun cleaning up haha. Good luck with your baby!
