Getting my First Yorkie in two weeks! Finally it was narrowed down to this lovely boy who will turn 5 months in two weeks. Was after a long search for a breeder and then the pup. Can't wait to bring him home, we're thrilled!!!!! He had his last set of shots today and was not his usual playful self when we visited. Poor guy. We're thinking of giving him the name Diesel. He's very hairy and 5lbs at the moment, the breeder thinks that he's done growing for the most part. Comments about the name?

| I love the name. As to the growing if I'm not mistaken they stop growing when they are around 8 months old. Then they start to fill in, but they can gain weight till 1 1/2 years. Check the birth weight and the parents and grandparents to get a estimate of weight and height. At least that's what I've noticed with my fur baby's. He might be down because of the vaccine but he should be his self soon...

Thanks to you all! What foods do you feed your fur-babies? Any particular brand you suggest or do you feed your pups home prepared foods? Also, at what age did you neuter the puppy, if a male of course? I just want to curb the spraying if at all possible?

Diesel is a good name.... Lots of foods to choose from... Orijen and Acana have a nice variety between them and they're rated pretty well. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...e-samples.html

I LOVE the name, Diesel, a mighty name for a small breed with an attitude of a GIANT, GREAT name, please keep us posted. Good luck, there is no other breed if you are looking for a perky, lil clown. awesome breed.

always check with your vet for proper age and time to neuter . I see postings at 6 mos and 8 mos. Keep in mind, neuter before marking becomes a habit, the sooner the better. I adopted my boy, his medical paper read neutered at age 6 months, he does not mark, he squats when he makes his pee pee, soooo cute.

Hi & Welcome to YT, Cute name. As far as food, you may want to go to dogfoodadvisor.com. It's also a wonderful website. Read this doctor's story about how he lost his beloved dog & then look at the foods he has rated (from 1-5 stars). He has rated at least 750 different dog foods. He tells you the good, the bad & the ugly of the different foods.
