| Potty Training My Yorkie Shih Tzu Hi. 3 weeks ago I adopted a 7 week old Yorkie-Shih Tzu mix. This is our families first dog so we are very unfamiliar with the process. Only my husband has had a dog growing up in the past. As soon as we got her, we gave her some supervised free roam as we tried to catch her in the act of doing her business. We were then advised into crate training our puppy and putting her on a strict schedule. We are still continuing the crate training, but she is preferring to go in her crate rather than outside. We are using wee wee pads in the crate, but the people at the pet store are saying that it is scented to make her want to go on the pad. However we talked to a trainer and he said since we never tried to train her on the pads, she doesn't know the scent. My question now is, how do I get her to stop going in the crate? Could the trainer be wrong and she still wants to go on the pad because of the scent? We will bring her outside and put her in the crate when she doesn't go, but she will go right away in her sleeping area. Thank you |
