| New to yorkie talk, anyone from the Poconos in Pa. Hello everyone, I just joined this awesome yorkie site, looking forward to chatting with other yorkie moms & dads. I have had 3 female yorkies in the last 35 years, I had to put the last of my brood down Oct.1, 2013. I swore no more dogs for me, the loss of loosing them, holding them in your arms and having someone inject them that will end their life, to over whelming for me. 6 weeks after having to put down my beautiful 16 y/o little girl my vet called me. They just picked up a 2 y/o male, neutered, micro chipped yorkie that was surrendered, never owning a male I was not interested, I was still mourning the loss of my beloved little girl. My vet insisted I come see the dog, she said something about this yorkie reminded her of my little girl. Out of respect for my vet, and because when she saw this dog she thought of me and remembered my reaction when I was told I had to put her down, knowing I would never have a male dog in my life I went to see this dog. He came home with me that day. I adore him, he's the smartest of all the yorkies I have had. I would not think there is much diff. between males & females as far as personalities go, I would love to chat with other yorkie owners. Having yorkies for 35 years I know them very well. If anyone lives in or near the Pocono's Pa. that would be nice for a possible dog play date. I have Cody 3 months and know he loves ppl, I am still getting to know him, I take him into pet smart stores, he gets all wired up when he sees other dogs so I am not sure if he is pet friendly. This I would like to find out. Where I live they just built a doggie park, I have gone to it but the times I have gone there are big dogs and Cody backs away. Anyone interested in chatting would be welcomed. Have a great evening. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Hi and WELCOME to YT ! So glad you found us. Your Cody sounds absolutely adorable. I'm so happy that you decided to go look at him, even though you hesitated...he sounds like such a blessing. I have 2 boys and 1 girl - I got the boys first, and the girl later. I LOVE my little boys, they're just so amazing. And so is my little girl - just an easy breezy lovebug. So yes, for those who aren't sure about males...I always say they're just wonderful.

| Welcome to Yorkie Talk. I love your story about how Cody came into your life. I wanted a girl and ended up with 2 boys, brothers from different litters. They are affectionate and feisty. Share some pictures of your boy. Pictures usually need to be re-sized. Here is a video tutorial if you need help posting: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/my-...orkietalk.html I am in Virginia, near Washington, DC. We visited the Poconos a lot when I was younger and could ski and ride horses.

| Default New to yorkie talk, anyone from the Poconos in Pa thank you for your replies, I ADORE this lil boy, he is more then SPECIAL to me. He came from a home when he was loved and spoiled rotten. His story is:::he was purchased for a little 9 y/o girl 2 years ago, she must have carried him in her arms like he was an infant because when he sits on my lap he will THROW him self backwards into the crook of my arms, like you are holding a baby, and wants to be petted lol, he's so cute. This little gild must have given him 1000% of her attention because that is what he DEMANDS from me lol. Someone took the time to train him, like to sit and stay. I know the prev. owner had to spend a lot of time with him, then a relative moved in, pregnant, had the baby, and that real baby got all the attention and the dog was forgotten, of course the dog started doing naughty things which upset the owner. When the dog would bark it would wake the infant and the dog got scolded. The owner said with a new baby the dog was to much work, so it had to go. I am sure the little girl who is now 11 y/o carted the real baby around and lost interest in this awesome lil boy. My vet works with a rescue group, one of the rescue volunteers saw the posting rehome or ASPCA where they kill animals if they are not adopted after a certain time. arrangements were made to go to NY to pick this lil fellow up. How ppl can love, care for, spoil an animal then kick it to the curb is beyond me. Now I have him, and I am reaping the benefits of all their hard work in training him. I know this little boy must miss the little girl that once loved him. How cruel ppl can be. Animals have feelings to. I feel so bad for this little boy, He barks and I jump lol, he came to me already spoiled, and I will spoil him more. There is no way I can take the place of that little girl, but I think the back yard will. Cody was a city boy, now he will become a country boy, I have a nice big yard that he loves to run around in. We have had a lot of now, over 3 feet in the yard so he cannot play in it. I cannot wait for Spring time when this lil boy can go out when ever he wants to, to run free and play when ever he wants to. His hunting instincts have kicked in lol. This is going to be a wonderful spring & summer for both Cody and myself. It's been 16 years since I had a baby. I adore him and will do what ever to make up to him for the prev. owner and the little girl that tossed this lil boy to the curb. Thanks for the video, I did upload one pic of him, I assumed it took. I will post more pics, I have 100's lol. I hope this reply takes, I have lost so many, just get booted out and poofe my reply is gone. Thank you again |

| Your first few posts are moderated and may take some time to show up. That ends quickly and then your posts will show immediately. I see his picture in your photo album -- he is a doll! Absolutely adorable. You can make an avatar too to show up under your screen name. Go to "User CP" in the left hand corner of the blue bar at the top of the screen. Click on that and scroll down to add avatar. Follow the instructions for size requirements. I am so glad that Cody found his way to you. Although it is very sad that his first family gave him up, and that they left him in a place where he could have been euthanized for no reason , he is very lucky to have a new mom who will give him the life he deserves. Enjoy your new baby!

| thank you for your help in posting Cody's pic. that was so kind of you, can you tell me how I get his name with his pic. and how to put RIP with names of my other fur babies? I love this little guy, he has put so much happiness back into my life, he gives me belly laughs all day. He is suffering from cabin fever, there is over 3 feet of snow in the yard, so he is confined to the decks. Poor baby he'll go to the edge of the deck and look longingly at it, then look at me then back at the yard. He loves to run, he's so fast like a little greyhound, so cute. When I first got him I played everyday in the yard with him, I get such a rush to see him so happy to be free and able to just run, run, run. I just can't wait for Spring. The bad thing is, he gets car sick. I took my other dogs all over with me, sometimes I would drive down the road and back lol, I did this because when I was working the only time they went in the car was to go to the vet or the groomer, two places they hated lol. When I retired I had time to take them on a ride to no where. So they never knew when they were going to the vet. When I had my last one I would take her to see the horses, or I would buy a bag of apples, cut them up then drive to the state park and feed the deer, I have deer where I live but the deer at the state park are use to ppl and do not run away like they do where I love, my last lil girl loved to see the deer and the horses. In the Spring where I buy flowers they have goats, sheep, calf's & cows, she loves them, sorry loved them. So she never knew when it was vet or groomer time. This lil guy throws up, and I don't feed him if I know we're going out, the vet gave me pills to give him, I have not tried them yet. Again, thank you so much for your help. |
