So true, that's why many of us on Yorkietalk do our best to discourage people from getting the smaller dogs. Anything under four pounds really is a lot harder to take care of even if it is healthy, just the chance of more accidents.

I don't think many people have any idea how bad breeding practices are and how unhealthy these purposely bred tinies can be. I had a yorkie for years (a massive teapot!), but until coming to this site last May I never knew there was any danger with smaller yorkies other than them jumping down from heights. Sad to say, but very few people know about puppy mills, petstores, and craigslist sellers, and the horrors these poor dogs have to put up with.

It's funny because I always call my 4 lb guy my little guy and I always consider him to be small. I can't imagine purposely seeking something smaller.

I can't imagine looking at my 17lb teapot Lou Lou how small and fragile these little guys must be...never mind the health problems that goes with it..I feel so sorry for these little ones and the poor quality of life they must have due to health issues....

Hi yorkie lovers . Mila walked to her pee pee pad today without falling😅tears of happiness. I would never have spent so much money even to buy a tiny yorkie if I knew there would be health issues. I never expected Mila not to be perfect in every way. Natalie is a champ at selling. She comes off super sweet and knowledgable and I just wish I had known about yorkie talk and all her history selling sick dogs. I can only now do everything I can for the next person to not be fooled by Natalie. Today she closed up her guest book as so many of you got to her on it. I'm glad she knows that people are realizing AGAIN what a bad breeder she is. Natalie had told me after I told her that Mila is sick that she never had a sick dog like this in all her years breeder. After all your support and well wishes I know this to not be true. Thank you again.

Gina C, first of all, I deeply regret how sick your Mila is.

My Tatiana is also from Natalie. I guess I was lucky, as Tatiana is in excellent health. I did purchase Tatiana as an adult dog. She was three years old. Right now, Tatiana is six years old, and still in excellent health. She's small (3 lbs).

Again, I deeply regret your situation with Natalie. I'm shocked and dismayed.

Awesome news Gina! Have you contacted your local BBB, put reviews up on her on Rip Off Report, and have you checked to see if your state has a puppy lemon law?

happy presidents day everyone. hope you all get a little time off extra today to spend with our loved ones. just to answer a few questions Mila is two pounds and probably done growing. however even if she was four pounds or 8 pounds she still would have these health issues as it is a birth defect. NOT a weight defect. I appreciate the tips that I have recieved here and starting tomorrow (as many businesses are closed today) i will contact court, irs, bbb, animal control, humane society, mspca. thats a great start. i did the ripoff report and yelp. I cant post anymore on Natalies website as she deleted the ratings and guestbook viewing since all mine and your posts. I do not have facebook, but again i know from everyone else that she blocks and deletes all comments. Sadly she hasnt even contacted me to see how Mila did in surgery. She never even asked if she made it through it. But she calls herself the grandmother to all her dogs. Id hate to have her as my grandmother!! Everyone kiss your yorkies beautiful faces today and count your blessings that they are perfect!! thank you all for giving me the drive to want to pursue closing her puppy mill.

I don't know anything about your little girls condition, but a lot of the hereditary diseases can happen in yorkies of any size. The smaller ones just seem more prone to it. I think in a lot of cases, they are small because they are sick, instead of being sick because they are small. Take Liver shut for example...it does occur in yorkies of all sizes but seems to be more prevalent in the smaller ones. One of the symptoms in liver shunt is "failure to thrive" so the liver shunt basically can stunt their growth. Unfortunately, bad breeders capitalize off this and sell them as micro minis when really they are small bc something is wrong with them. This, of course, isn't the case with every small dog and you can have a sick dog of any size...but it seems like the number of smaller dogs with problems is much greater than the bigger dogs.

On top of that, bigger dogs seem to be able to tolerate things better than smaller dogs...not even speaking just in terms of yorkies, but yorkies vs other breeds as well. Bc yorkies are small, their little bodies just don't seem to take stress and illness as well as say something like a lab or pit bull would.

Whether your dog ( or anyone's dog) is 4 pounds 20 pounds 1.2 pounds, 87 pounds, IF they are found with a birth defect the breeder should be responsible . I have several dogs. I'd react the same way toward any breeder if any of them were sold to me with a birth defect. If you get a lab your taking a chance that you will have to have hip surgery. I know of a lab breeder that offers to pay for hip surgeries of pups that she sold. My reasons for posting are to aware people of a bad breeder so they do not have to go thru the heartache of watching your dog be sick and not no if they will survive. It's a scary feeling.
