| Well if I could take my dogs with me I probably would. We have just went on two day vacations since we got them and we left them at home. If I couldnt take them I would board them. My groomer boards them for you. We are planning a vacation to Disney and they will board them for you but you have to go there at least once a day and walk your dog. We dont know if we would be able to do that so we will probably board them at the groomers.

| Yes you are lucky I dont have anyone like that to watch my dogs. My groomer doesnt keep them in a cage all day though. They are let out to get some exercize. She just loves my dogs so I know they will be treated well.

| Syd stays with her grandma when we are away...whether it be for just one night or a full vacation. Our first vacation was about 3 weeks after we brought her home. She wasn't that attached to us yet and she fit right into life with grandma for a week. She didn't even seem to recognize us at first when we came to pick her up. Since then, the longest we have been gone is over 1 night. She doesn't like being left...but she deals. I am concerned that in 8 months we are getting married and Syd will be left with grandma for about 2 weeks solid. I'm afraid she will get depressed. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I don't take vacations to often. I 'd rather stay with my puppies! In the last 12 years i have only gone on 1 vacation and that was to Vegas in May and my husband stayed home with my pom. I don't know if I could leave Cali but I'm hoping she will like to travel and we can go with her.

| Me and my husband are going to Vegas in June for our 1 year wedding anniversary and I am already getting sad about having to leave them. I dont know where they will go probably with my mom or something but it just worries me to death, I probably will not have a very good anniversary without my babies.

| The only place Tatum has ever stayed while we've been away is with my mother-in-law. But then that's where she spent the first year of her life anyways because we lived with her while building our new house. I don't think I could leave her at the kennel that our Australian Shepherd goes to but haven't had to make that decision yet either. Stormie (the AS) goes to a kennel that a neighbor of ours has. We know them very well and trust them completely with her but I think little ones (like Tatum) are a whole different ballgame. With our toy poodle, we would board him at the vet because they loved to play with him and gave him lots of extra attention. That's probably where I would take Tatum if I absolutely had to leave her and her Grandmother wasn't available. But I don't think that really answers your question (not completely anyway).... I'm pretty okay about leaving Tatum (knowing that she's comfy cozy on Grandmother's big bed at night). I don't have separation anxiety where she's concerned but do miss her while we're gone.

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | When we first got Magic we were very lucky in that we could take her out of town with us...we were out of town for about two weeks but she was allowed in the hotel, so she was able to stay with us the whole time... This past summer we went to Vegas for a weekend and couldn't take the girls, my aunt took the girls for the weekend which made the trip much more fun. I didn't have to worry about them beng boarded or anything and I knew they were having fun with them. I called everyday to check in and missed them alot but knew they were safe and happy!!

| We had to go away for a week just a week after we got Chloe, she got really attached to my aunt then and we were worried she would never be happy with us. Well I guess that wasn't the case because now she is always following one of us around, and is always up for cuddles and kisses. She never forgot my aunt though. As soon as she hears her call her name shes at the porch, front paws stretched up waiting for cuddles. My grandma usually takes care of Chloe now, and shes finally gotten used to it and knows we will always return for her. It broke our hearts to leave her for the first few times becasue she would never want to go and had once completely rebelled against grandma by leaving a surprise for her on the couch It hurts to leave our babies but its a wonderful reunion for everyone when you return for them again.

| I know how you feel. I really don't want to leave Raisin either, but we have to go to CA for a few days to go to my sister in laws wedding. I miss her already knowing I won't get to see her everyday. I wish we could take her with us - I would love to have her there to go sight-seeing with, but even if the hotel accepts dogs, I wouldn't leave her there during the wedding Fortunately she will be staying with my mom, but I still worry because Raisin is never home alone for long amounts of time and my mom will be out of the house from 7-4:30 to go teach. That will only be one day though. She has thought about taking Raisin to school with her (she teaches 5th grade) but I think that might stress the dog out too much. Or she'd have the time of her life, who knows... I do know that I'm a worry-wart and will be leaving behind instructions and calling when we're gone. Anyone who has stayed in a hotel with their yorkie... what do you do if you have to go places that your pup can't go... or do you only plan to go whereever yorkies are accepted? |
