Note about Pancreatitis in Yorkies

Just wanted to add that pancreatitis treatment is very expensive. I would never feed a raw diet to a dog with this medical problem, for various reasons.

Percentages of protein or any other part of the ananylasis can be deceptive. Percentages change according to how much fluid and other substances like fillers are in the mix. You take out a filler and your concentration of things like protein goes up. You can have any consistency of food of exactly the same composition with the same percentages BEFORE processing but once it is cooked, baked or dehydrated the percentages change because when you cook or dehydrate the fluid is taken out. The amount is still the same but the percentage has changed because the fluid factor changed. The protein or other or fat appears more concentrated because of that not because there is more of it in one type or the other.
While most Pancreatitis is caused by eating fatty foods there are other factors that can cause Pancreatitis. A blood test should always be taken when a dog is exhibiting Pancreatic symptoms to establish what you are dealing with.
When feeding freeze dried you always need to increase by more than half the amount of water your pet is actually consuming...not just what you put out. They should eat less and drink more. Everything is concentrated in a freeze dried food. If you look at the anaylisis of S&C's frozen version of the same food the percentages are distinctly different (lower) because most of the fluid is still in the frozen, yet, they contain the same substances.
Raw feeding has nothing to do with getting Pancreatitis despite what traditional feeders like to tell you.
