| New Member Hello! Hello to all. I am a new member, just registered this evening. My five-year-old daughter has a now 71/2 month old yorkie. His name is Jeffree and I gues that makes me his grandma. This is really my first time in a chat forum, so please be patient with me. I was looking at some of the postings. It is a relief to find that I am not alone in the battle with housebreaking. This is my hair-pulling dilemma. Patience is the key, I suppose. Are yorkies harder to train that other breeds? That is what I am gathering. Is there a certain time period to hope for, or is this something I have to battle from time to time throughout his life? I must admit, at one time we considered giving him up. But now it is totally out of the question. That is the reason I registered with YorkieTalk, so that I can have some sort of support system of other yorkie lovers. Is there a light at the end of the tunnel? C'mon...grandma needs some help here. |

| Hello and welcome. Yes, yorkies are a difficult breed to housebreak. It took a year for Gus to be housebroken but only two months for my other yorkie. They are all different. Be patient and consistent. It's a question of when but Jeffree will get it if you keep working with him. Good luck.

| I don't know if it is the breed that is hard to train but rather the puppy or dog. I have found all breeds have easy to train and impossible to train. I have Yorkies and a Chihuahua. The Chihuahua is almost impossible to train. My other Chihuahua who now lives with my sister was so easy to train I only had to teach him things one time for him to learn. He went to live with my sister because she needed him and his stay with me was temp. I miss him because he was the perfect dog to train but I am happy I prepared him for her. My Yorkies are anxious to learn. For a treat or "num-num" as I call it Juliet will dance and do circles. She is quite the performer. Too bad she thinks sit means dance. LOL I think you will find many people on this site that can give you lesson tips and stuff so good luck with your new baby in your family there...Have you posted pictures yet? :c)

| Hi and welcome to the forum!!! I have two nine month old boy yorkies and would just like to add that using belly bands and disposable diapers for the last few months has helped us a great deal with the potty training issues AND our sanity, LOL

| Welcome to YT. We love new members. I crate trained my girl. We still have accidents if she is not watched completely. Be patient and consistant, it also helps if you have a dog door. Good luck.
