Yorkie vomits, coughs but hapoy otherwise! Hello, I am little confused by behaviour of my 15 month old yorkie girl. It's been three days since she started to vomit. I did not worry since her appetite was still great, she is herself, no issue, happy and active and she basically acts still the same way. But why does she keep throwing up? She also coughs a bit but maybe her esophagus is a bit burnt from the acids? Also all my family had strep throat which I was searching on the i-net and she sould not catch strep throat but she still can get the strep. Would that explain her sickness? Or is it something else? I took her food away from her and give her only white rice, tomorrow I will add home made broth with chicken breast and rice but how long would you wait before you'd take her to a vet? Once again, she does not act sick.

| I would certainly not wait another day to have her checked out by a vet! Vomiting and coughing for three days is not a good thing. Good luck!

Symptoms like this many times are just the onset of a more serious issue. She needs to be seen by a good vet.

What kind of vomit? My shep/chow mix used to vomit frequently. Vet said it was from the stuff he was eating outside. He would eat blades of grass and weeds. When he would puke, it was "bile." It looked like egg yoke with suds. Really disgusting but the vet seemed to think it was no big deal. He lived to be 15 years old and never had any problems outside of some bad arthritis that kicked in during his last 2 years.

Vet for sure! Let us know what they say. The only time Gizmo or Cici gets sick is if they end up breaking a piece off of a toy and swallowing it and then their body doesn't like it so they throw up the little piece. But 3 days is a long time. Hope She is okay!

While some dogs do vomit [U]occasionally[U]continual vomiting is not normal despite what any vet says. Yellow bile comes from the liver and is a sure sign of digestive problems. It could be something the dog ate if it is only on occasion but if it is more frequent it could be the food or a more complicated issue with the animal's digestive system. In any case frequent vomiting requires a closer look by a vet that is willing to take the time to investigate.

Sorry it took me a while to post again, my youngest daughter and myself were sick. I actually still am, blaaah! Anyways, the minute I finished the post here she had the last vomiting episode, I kept her on chicken-rice diet, gave her her food yesterday and no issues. Her BM was fine all the time so I wonder if something in her throat irritated her or if it was a consequences of the coughing. I still have to keep my eye on her because of the strep we had because from what I've read she can become a chronic carrier without any symptoms and make us having strep throat frequently. So if it is the case, she will need antibiotics but hopefully not. Thank you for your support!
