| New Member says HI! Hello everyone! Ive been lurking for a while and just joined! I'll be bringing home a little female yorkie the beginning of February and I'm so excited! I haven't been able to decide on a safe enclosure when I'm out of the house. I have carpet at home so I need something with a easy to clean bottom. I have read so many post about puppies jumping out of their xpen so I want something with a top. I was considering getting an xlarge crate with 2 doors and attaching a smaller crate to one opening. I'll put the bedding in the small crate and toys/potty area in the xlarge crate. This way she can get used to sleeping in the small one (so we can also crate train to go outside) and have space to play in the xlarge crate. What do you all think? I am worried the xlarge crate will still be too small to play and potty with out a mess. I checked one out at petsmart and it looks big enough but i just don't know. This seems to be the cheapest options. if I buy an xpen I'll have to invest on some type of flooring and a cover. The xlarge crate is $80 plus free shipping at dr fosters and smith. Also, Help me choose a name please. So far I like Mia, Sassy and Tinkerbelle (Tink for short). Thanks!!! |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Just want to say WELCOME!!! And congrats on your soon to be yorkie! How exciting. You must post piccies when you get her. I used an xpen type thingy w/ Pfeiffer and it was just big enough to hold her bed, a pee pad, and some water and it worked quite well. The name Sassy is really cute, but I like all the choices!

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | Hello and welcome to YT. Congrats. I have a Iris ex pen with an extra two panels. I never had a problem with Galen climbing but some do. I have his crate inside the ex pen. Amazon.com: IRIS Indoor/Outdoor Plastic Pet Pen... Amazon.com: IRIS Containment Pen Add-On Panels,...

| I like all the names you have picked out. Tinker bell would be my favorite. Congratulations on the new puppy! |

| Thanks for responding guys! I bought the xlarge crate and I'm looking for something else a little bigger with a top. I want to be prepared just in case she ends up being a jumper. |

| Hi and welcome to YT. They make an enclosed pen that looks kind of like the bouncy pit for kids. Not sure what it is called though. It is round with a top and bottom in it.

| Welcome to YT and congrats to being a soon to be new yorkie mom I had been looking into yt'ers for a few years before I got my Bailey. He is 2 yo now, and boy time flys! The one thing that I found very helpful in my search and info was to use a harness, not a collar, due to the possible trachea problems with this breed. Congrats and the days/nights must seem long now that you are getting closer to owning one. Ahhh, bring back fond memories of Bailey when I brought him home. Everyday since then we still say how freakin' cute he is. Looking forward to pics when you have the time in all the oooing and aaawing that will be going on in your home. |
