Scout says NO GROOMING! My little love puff absolutely detests when I try to brush him, no matter how gentle I am. He has even gone as far as growling at me and trying to bite if I brush him. I know if I leave it, his hair will just get really matted, so I try to force him, but I don't want it to be a miserable experience for him, especially since it needs to be done daily. I've tried treats, doing it when he's sleeping, I've even tried to just hold him down and get it over with. Thoughts?

How old is he? Lexi just turned one and now sits like a lady when I brush or groom her. Was not at all like that when she was a puppy-growled and tried to bite also! I just continued to do it everyday and eventually she got the program and realized Mommy wasn't going to give up!

It's either persistence at grooming or give up and cut the hair short. I don't see any middle ground here. There are those grooming sprays that assist in preventing some snarls......????????

Sprays are great for working out tangles! I spray directly on a mat & loosen it w/my fingers & comb out. It's a great in-between refresher between baths to get rid of the outdoor smell too.

Maggie will it let me use a brush on her. She will tolerate one of those big metal, combs that the groomers use. I got in at petsmart and it gets out her tangles and any loose fur.

| Gina's not overly fond of being brushed, but she get's a special treat, that she only gets while being brushed, so she tolerates it. I would try a different comb or brush, and add a special treat, and start with short brush times and gradually make them longer. Good luck. Cheers Quad & Gina

Have you tried a metal comb? I did that when my yorkies were pups and only used the first 2 prongs. I'd cuddle them in a warm towel after a bath. If you pinch the base of the hair so if the comb pulls the hair, it wont pull their skin and bother them. Before you know it, they'll love the comb. It did take some getting used to. Just be very gentle. Neither of my yorkies are fond of the brush.
