| Why does my sweet, calm girl turn into psycho pup when I try to brush her teeth? Oh my goodness! Lilah is a pretty easy going kinda girl until you get anywhere near her mouth. She got a hold of a piece of rat lab block (pet rats) and I had to wrestle her to the ground and pry it out of her mouth while she was snapping and squirming. And tooth brushing is met with similar dislike lol. She's going to get used to it bc she doesn't have a choice but I'd like to keep all my fingers in the meantime |

| Loll keep @ it, she'll get used to it. You can slowly introduce your finger wrapped in gauze & stick it in her mouth, but she might mistake it for a chew toy!

| Sorry, I didn't notice how old your dog is. If they haven't been trained from the time they are a pup it can be really hard to get them to cooperate. I once had a dog that would clamp down so hard when someone tried to open his mouth that even the vet couldn't get a look. If it is really difficult for you there are enzymatic liquids that you can put in their water that will keep the plaque from forming on their teeth and keep them nice and shinny. They also have sprays you can put in the mouth. |

| Jenny, anything near her mouth is considered a chew toy lol. I've been holding her and opening her mouth a few times a day over the last few days just to get her used to it and she is a bit better (giving her lots of praise every time she cooperates). She even gave the vet a hard time at her initial check up gracielove….she's 15 weeks. We've only had her a few weeks now so everything is new to her. But she's gonna have to get used to it |

| Ive also been hand feeding her the past couple of days and getting her to let me touch her mouth while she is doing that. She may never like her mouth being touched but hopefully she will get used to it (just don't try and pry a lab block out of it LOL. Wish she liked her food as much as the rat food!) |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Hi there - I'm a long time member of YT and I've read so so much here - wish I could help - but my youngest NEVER liked it and never will - 6 pounds of the strongest wiggling wrestler I've ever held when it comes to her face and teeth - she never ever tries to bite - but can move her head in a thousand jerky directions in less than 1 minute lol Good luck! |
