My Beauty has poop hanging out of her bottom.

I thought that it was just maybe some stuck to her hair but once I cleaned her up I realized that it is actually hanging out of her bottom.

She is only 8 weeks old and is whimpering and I think that it is bothering her alot. She has been scooting her bottom across floor. Can someone please tell me what to do. do I need to take her to the vet or is there something I can do at home to help her get it out.

You can give her pumpkin. It helps constipation. Sometimes if you wipe their bottom with a warm rag it will help the rest to come out. Good Luck !

Ok thanks. I just looked at her again. Her rectum is really red and it seems to be hanging out a little. What about eating. She loves to eat. Should I stop her from eating the Chicken Soup for a couple days and try a soft dog food on her. I just feel so helpless right now because she is so tiny.

Ok it came out with the warm rag, but it looks kinda red down there. Is that normal after an episode like this one. I gave her a bath and cleaned her up down there really good. She seems to be doing better now. I will just watch her and see what happens when its time to poop again!

You could try a tiny bit of vaseline on her sore butt.

Glad to hear she is doing better. Try giving her a little bit of pumpkin for a couple days to soften it up.

you need to check her stools for worms espically if she's so young and has an itchy butt on the ground ! poor lil doggie! most puppies get worms from thir mommys before born and should be wormed at 3 weeks i believe! but i would take the baby to the vet asap ! worms can be serious in small puppys/dogs!

I hope Beauty will feel better soon . . .especially if the pumpkin is going to help. My Annika is the opposite. All she does is poop and they're a bit soft her bottom gets really messy so I always wash her bottom under lukewarm running water and then use a little bit of the baby shampoo so not only does it get cleaned, it'll smell good

My yorkie had the same thing happen to her around 8-9 weeks too! She is now 2-1/2 years old, but I remember this since I was pretty worried too. I put her in the bathtub and with a warm rag cleaned her off - she was fine after that.

Lola has had the same thing happen to her on a couple of occasions. We always helped her out. Gross I know. Anyway last time she had it we were on our way to the vet so I mentioned it to him. He recommended that she eat Lax'aire. We bought it at the vet for about 10 bucks and she eats a little of it everyday. It is awesome because it does not cause her to have loose stools, but it makes it easier for her to poop. Since she has so much protein in her diet, this stuff works great. Ask your vet about it. Hope I helped a little.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I really appreciate them. YT is awesome! Well Beauty hasn't pooped anymore today, so I really won't know if she is better until she does. She has been playing and she hasn't scooted across the floor since. I don't know, maybe she was eating too much and not drinking enough because she is greedy. I asked the breeder and she said that she would drink when she's ready. I got her on Friday and Monday was the first time that she actually went to her water bowl without me helping her to drink. I just love her to pieces and she seems to be doing ok, I am just waiting for her to go potty again.

I think that the scooting was because she had poop attached to her bottom. My step dad breeds Pit bulls and he said that it was her way of getting it detached from her rectum. For those who are wandering, I live nowhere near him so Beauty is not in danger of being attacked by Pits

But to be honest, I have owned a cocker spaniel, weimaraner (sp), and pits and my most loyal was the pit. Her name was Belle and she was the best dog ever.

You could also try to give her some Nutrical and see if that helps, I read that it helps them poop as well as providing nutrients. Coincidentally, this happened to my yorkie girl today. I heard her whining and come to find out there was a poop stuck that she couldn’t get out. She is a little hungry piggy but she hardly drinks water. Then to top it off, she loves to splash in her water bowl and splash all the water out, so I keep refilling her water bowl every couple of hours. But I guess it finally caught up with her. I’m going to try giving her Nutrical to see if it helps.

When that happened to Rosi @ 8 weeks i ended up taking Rosi to the EVet, she had it soo bad she was slobbering, they gave her an enema, her poor butt was bloody and they had to hydrate her. They told me to give her a little vaseline in her mouth and put Prep.H on her butt. Poor thing was pretty sore. Hope your baby feels better soon @

Are you sure we don't have the same puppy. You have just described my Beauty! How much Nutrical do I give her she is 1.6lbs. That was my next question.
