I don't take her to dog parks around here, too many way too big and bad dogs. Oh my God, I just couldn't imagine letting her around them!!!

She is now happily conked on my lap, but I DO have to disturb her to eat my supper. Thank God, she now just runs up the ramp to my bed and will go to sleep until I get in the bed, then she will paw at the covers to get underneath. I keep my heat very low at night and Yorkies do not like to be cold!!

| I was wondering the same thing for a loooooong time. Ruger is 4 now and has definitely calmed down, although it doesn't take much to get him going again -- knock at the door, cat at the window, UPS guy driving down the street. |

YT 2000 Club Member | We have 3 yorkies and they are all very calm. One is almost 7 years, one is 1 1/2 years and the baby is 11 months. I think I lucked out in their temperament as they are all laid back! All three are lap dogs but love their play time. I have heard that some are very active but not ours!

Her idea of a good time is a good fight. It was really hard teaching her to fetch because she wanted to make me fight her in order to get the ball back. We still get into games of chase and tug because she just loves it She can wear me out some days. She is really so much better now than when she was a puppy but it took time and patience. I found treats really helped get her cooperation in a lot of things, like grooming. I have family that don't understand her quirky nature and they are surprised that I let her talk back to me. Honestly, she thinks she can talk and when she wants something she doesn't think twice about telling me. Many times she makes noises in her throat in order to tell me something, which is somewhat better than the bark she does when I'm late taking her for a walk or with getting her supper.

Yes, I go through the same thing with people, ESPECIALLY, like I said my boss. He thinks she is just SO privileged. I tried to explain to him that I don't mind the fact that she is nutty when we walk, it forces me to walk really fast, run, sprint, etc. It is like circuit training for me. I even paid for private training lessons to deal with her walking issues, and it ended up being that the only way she would NOT do her thing was to use one of those nose harness things that squeezed her nose. I decided that I didn't want to do that to her. I don't WANT to break her of her "yorkiness", that is what I love about her. But it drives me freakin CRAZY when people try to tell ME about MY dog and why don't I do this, or why do I allow her to do that. It is like, YOU don't have this dog, you may have had other kinds of dogs, but you never had a yorkie, so don't even try and compare my dog to your HUGE dog. But yes, she does wear me out some days as well. And yes, Beanie talks to me as well! She makes all these bird noises and I swear she says mummy. She makes a noise with 2 syllables and it is mummy and depending on what she wants (like how bratty she is getting), those 2 syllables will change and get louder and more insistent. It is the funniest thing!! She is like a little person, not a dog. I know that sounds strange, but people who have Yorkies like ours know exactly what I mean. Beanie has more personality and is smarter than a lot of people I know!!

| One result of early spaying is hyperactivity. They never grow out of their puppy mentality. Early being anytime before their 1st heat/growth plate closure. If this is the case, discuss hormone therapy with your vet.

| Try this Anybody else's fur baby calm down after putting pjs on them? My Zoey is very active too but she does take an afternoon nap. But come around 9:00 I want her to settle down then I bought her first pair of pjs.....oh my goodness .... She is hilarious! Everything comes to screeching halt and she is ready to snuggle down! She loves them! They are almost therapeutic! She is DONE for the day. Lol |
