I've always been the one adopting, not surrendering, but if I were giving up my dog, I would make darn sure it went to a reputable rescue and I would probably want to be involved in the adoption process to make sure my babies got the best home they could.

I recently joined a rescue because of a pregnant dog I pulled off the streets so that I could be involved in every adoption and so far 4 out of my 7 pups have been adopted into loving homes. I find that being a foster is very rewarding in that aspect. I've become friends with the new owners and get updates and photos of the pups. You said it "Hoarders". It takes a lot of time and dedication to find homes for these animals. Hats off to the rescues and shelters that do it the right way!!! I could have given away 20 pups in the last 2 weeks but our screening process is very strick and I like it that way!

You have to screen carefully but some bad ones still slip through. Thats where follow up visits become so important. But isn't it great when you see a dog blossom in their new home. That makes all the work and dealing with idiots worthwhile.

Since the op hasn't been back to update us, I'm leaning heavily towards my first feeling on the thread.

Why post if you're not going to tell the whole story?
