Luckily, it's not like she ate the whole plant. Maybe a couple of leaves or something. I feel stupid for not looking the plant up until today though, especially since she took such a keen interest in it the last couple of days.

Yikes!! Make sure you watch her when she is outside, like Jenny has said there are soooo many poisonous plants out there that will kill our babies.

It is listed as toxic to dogs on that ASPCA link. If I see any kind of lethargy or any sign of sickness Cookie is going straight to the ER ASAP, but I don't think she got too much of it and she looks 100% normal right now, and like I said earlier, has had a great appetite today. She was just taking a nap, so I went to wake her up to check on her, and she was her usual self wanting to play and run just now after I woke her up lol.

Imagine my horror when I read this on that website. Yep, what reads like the granddaddy of dog killers is sitting there right behind Cookie in the pic below. I know for a fact she hasn't eaten any of that and it doesn't produce seeds, plus Cook is still her active hungry jumping self.

But crap, I just finished pulling that sago palm from the yard, covered the area with clean dirt, threw away every piece of root, leaf, stem, etc, and washed every single thing that touched it (including me) extremely thoroughly. What a scare reading that about a plant that was sitting in my back yard until about an hour ago.

I read about the dangers of the Sago Palm on YT a while back. I had a huge one in our yard that was there since the 80's! Needless to say, we took it out right away!

Thank goodness for YT and members sharing information!

Me too, about 2 years ago I got rid of mine. They are so popular in landscaping in Hawaii, but I never liked them because of the sharp points sticking out of the fronds..... they cut you like a razor.

I agree that the kind of symptom you describe usually happens when the dog has eaten something that has upset the digestive process. Fatty foods and other things that are hard to digest are usually the culprit.
