| If she had an allergic reaction to the vaccine you can talk to your Vet and see if he can give you the Benadryl injection before giving her the Bordetalla. Is she just due for that one? Peanut has pretty bad reactions to vaccines, Rabies is the worst. So when he is due I will always drop him off and the Vet will do the Benadryl and then about 20 mins later he will give the vaccines. Works like a charm.

| If I am not mistaken, this is fairly common with bordetella. Is there a reason she has to have it, like groomer or boarding requirements? If not, I would look into skipping it. Discuss it with your vet. I don't give it to my boys.

| Hm that's new to me. Never heard that before.. Did he tell you why..? is it from just being back in the hospital? Like Kristin has mentioned, if you are going to take her to grooming or boarding, it's best to get the vaccine. I would honestly just get the vaccine. Talk to your vet and tell him she needs the pre benadryl injection because of a reaction. Kennel cough is highly contagious. When she last had it do you know if she had the injection or through her nose?

| She had it through her nose. Yes, she needs it because she will be in the hospital with other dogs and they also board dogs. I'll ask about the Benadryl.

I've seen more dogs that get the Bordatella through the nose have the coughing/ sneezing type symptoms. They have an injection for Bordatella, you can also talk to your vet about that option.

| Didn't I read a thread on here that there is a bordatella vaccine that contains an inactivated virus instead of a live virus? That might be an option. I do know that a transient cough for a few days is very common with the intranasal vaccine.
