Yorkie eats grass??

My Yorkie is 2,5years old, I was walking him
today and noticed he was trying to chew grass/leaves whenever he can. He normally doesn't do it, so I was a bit worried. He wouldn't eat anything today, and later in the evening when my husband gave him some kibbles he wont eat any. He then tried to give him nutri plus, and after a few minutes Teddy throws up. He is a bit tired, but still alert. We dont have a reputable vet nearby, so I would really appreciate your thoughts. thank you so much.

It might be just a tummy upset. Is he drinking water ok? Gum is pinkish? Keep an eye on him since you're saying he's bit tired (not sure if it's b/c he was playing or if he's really not feeling well).

Boiled chicken breast is good for upset tummies.

My boys eat grass all the time. I literally think it's 1/2 their diet. LOL Not sure if you should be worried too much, but I try to make sure my boys only eat MY grass, the stuff that's not treated with any chemicals or anything.

Brandi only eats grass when she has an upset tummy. From what I hear, grass helps to induce vomiting. Hopefully it's just an upset tummy. Try to keep him hydrated if he's won't eat or drink. I will fill a syringe up with water to get her drinking if she won't drink on her own. But if his symptoms get worse than you will have to take him to a vet. Is there at least a vet or an emergency number that you can call?

Well, I'm glad this thread is here... Last night around 6pm, my bf's daughter saw Billi digging in the yard like she was on a misson and called her back inside. An hour later I find Billi vomiting twice and it was foul! Looked like there was a bunch of grass and dirt in it. Saw a little diarrhea on the floor and kept her confined so I could keep an eye on her. She seemed fine otherwise!

Then this morning at 3am I wake up and she's throwing up again. Not near as much as last night, but still... She took a little water, but wouldn't eat and went right back to sleep.

I figured I'd check on her when I get home from work (in an hour) and see how she is... Do you think she's ok? I never knew about eating grass to induce vomiting!

That's what I heard too. I do hope he gets better. I will check whether he drinks any water. To be honest, I had not been able to do so today, as I also have a 5 month old baby. I will try and do better tomorrow.

We do have vets here, I just have some negative experience with them. Teddy has his own vet (from where we used to live) who normally consults us when we can't make it to him (it's 2 hours flight away). I just hope we wont need to see a vet. I am planning on taking him to his vet in December for annual check up since I only trust him.

Jackson eats grass for fun and to help an upset tummy. lol. I can tell the difference between the two. He likes to munch on grass especially in the spring, but often when he's real hyper, it's almost like OCD. We will go be out back swimming in the pool, he dives in, gets out, runs, then eats grass, then repeat lOL... he's so weird. That doesn't upset anything. The few times he's had a bad tummy, he wants to go outside and he immediately starts eating whatever grass he can find and VERY quickly... I can tell his belly is upset and he wants to make himself vomit.

I just wanted to remind everyone to be watchful things the furbutts can eat outside. I believe there was an article of a dog eating some mushroom and ended up dying.

There are wild mushrooms that grows in our/neighbors yards and I do keep Magnus/Zoey away from those. But while I was cleaning up after Magnus did his business, I felt the leash tugging in one direction and looked up. And it was good that I did because Magnus was sniffing at it. I pulled him away before he could "investigate" further.

My boys too! When they are hyper, they chew on grass, like manically, like it's an OCD! LOL

Honestly I think I've read over the years, they don't really know if they eat grass to try to settle an upset tummy or to try to induce vomiting. They sure are funny creatures!
