Puppy nipping When my puppy comes in contact with people she gets really excited and when they try to pet her she playfully nips. How do I stop this behavior? When she calms down she doesn't do this.

| Hi and Welcome to YT! Try offering her a toy, or even a tiny treat, or I've heard to put peanut butter on one's fingers to encourage her to lick instead of nip. A gentle 'Ah, ah' along with redirection to the toy will remind her. Hopefully she'll grow out of doing this.

It makes it difficult when we r out for a walk and stop to talk to someone. She is so darn cute they can't help trying to pet her! I will try bringing treats but doesn't this make her feel she is getting rewarded for improper behavior?

Tell them "HI! we are in training right now, please understand, I'm asking everyone not to touch her - as she learns not to nip!"

Good idea we will see how that goes! Impost people just go and pet her before there is time to react. She has stopped doing it to us at home and it is only when she is very excited.

I like everyone to pet Kewpie when we are out and about. I feel it has helped socialize her.
