| First time for everything! So I was at the lake last weekend and we walked the strip area where there are shops, arcades, restaurants, the pier on the side of the lake, a public beach, boats, etc... lots of people. My boys get tons of attention and they were both on the ground walking on leashes. Everything was good. We stopped at an ATM to get some cash out and my boys were sitting in front of me between my legs and the ATM. I felt something brush my leg and look down to see this LARGE dog sniffing my boys! My heart literally skipped a beat. My whole demeanor must have changed because suddenly my boys started barking at the large dog, loud and quick. The owners had the dog on a leash and pulled him back away from my dogs. (this all happened in 3 seconds!) The woman then gave me the dirtiest look and my dogs an awful look and said "OH they scared me!!!" like they did wrong! I was beside myself. Who just lets their BIG dog go right up to another person's tiny dogs like that??? I mean WHO just lets 3 dogs 'meet' without asking the owner? What if mine were not friendly? What if hers was not? I couldn't believe it! I know this has happened to a bunch of you before. My dogs go hysterical, barking at any other dog they see and it sounds like they are not friendly, but actually they are friendly and they just want to visit and play. Most people keep their dogs away from mine though because they do bark. I spend so much time and energy protecting my boys and something awful could have happened in those 3 seconds. I was pretty upset! I mean I looked up at the ATM for 1 second when that woman must have come up.

| I'm so glad your boys are OK. Things happen so quickly. God was looking out for you and your babies.

| Understand I had a similar situation where a neighbor at the lake brought his Jack Russell. Said she was very friendly and did not feel threatened. I am a very over protective mom and did not take my eyes off of her. My husband had Sophie on a leash. The minuet I saw her teeth show I hauled Sophie up so fast I was beside my self all day thinking I may have hurt her. Thank god she wears a harness. The only other option guaranteed would have been death or al lot of surgery as she was going for her neck. All is well but I do not trust what other people say about their dogs being good. Make you wonder their judgment! |
