Little Lola (Lulu if you ask my husband) is doing just fine. No puppies yet but she is close. Man has she turned out to be such a little angel. The only time she makes a sound is when I put her in my mother-in-laws fenced in yard so she can potty. She does'nt want me to leave her. I've noticed that she will not pooh in her crate or on a leash so I have to allow her some time to do her thing. Her first night with me I did leave her in my shop office so I would'nt get fleas in my home but Saturday night she stayed in her crate in my house. For a street dog I am amazed that she's not having fits in that crate. She doesn't like it but doesn't complain. I had a issue yesterday here at work and had to come in so I left her at home (I hated too). Today I made a decision to leave her in the fenced in yard because I do not want her to have to hold her bladder all day especially being pregnant. There is so much more to say about her but my time is limited. Have some really cute pictures of her after I cleaned her up. Wish I knew how to attach them???

ladyjane 08-20-2013 09:44 AM

Hope she cannot dig out....plus we have storms today. Pups get scared and dig out of their yards. Also, what if she has puppies outside...eeek
I would not leave her in the yard. Either put her in a room or an x-pen ... put pee pads in for her. If she has to go, she will.

I guess you opted not to contact Pup Squad?

joyce evans 08-20-2013 10:20 AM

I tried to type a response to you Linda but I guess I took too long and YT went down while I was typing. Just wanted you to know that I read your post and will rearrange animals and put Lola in the Ex-Pen like you said.
Hannah might not like that too much but hey what is a mom to do.

Magnus 08-20-2013 11:43 AM

You're doing such a wonderful job. :) I can't wait to see pictures!!!!

I did contact Pup Squad but they are closed until Sept. 1. No intake. I filled out the intake form and foster form but nothing yet.

Awe! Thank you! Everyone on this site has been so supportive. I wish I had time to respond to each and everyone! This has been hard because there are so many decisions to make and so many things to take into consideration. Lola/Lulu will be fine. My life was already chaotic with 6 dogs one being a Yorkie but we will make it through. I know I can count on members here when I don't know what to do.

ladyjane 08-20-2013 12:57 PM

UGH...I can see not taking any in, but to not respond? Oh, what can I say? I wish I had a solution for you...you are going to have a lot of pups soon.:p;)

Well my dang e-mail is on the blink so if they did respond via e-mail I'm not able to get it. My phone numbers are on the forms I filled out but no calls. Thanks for the eek, tongue and wink Linda. You are too kind! LOL!

Teresiana 08-20-2013 01:38 PM

Well, I'm going to call her "Lula" from now on. :p I'm so so glad that she has someone to take care of her. What an angel you are! I know you have a lot going on, but thank you so much for keeping us updated. I'll keep my fingers crossed that everything goes well with her puppies & that Lula stays strong and healthy.

And because I'm so nosy...just wondering if you've heard from the family across the street from your job. Have they been looking for her at all? Or do they shoot you evil looks from across the street?

navillusc 08-20-2013 03:17 PM

Oh Joyce, I am glad things worked out so well. She was so precious looking in the picture you posted...must have been her sweet personality showing through. She knows you are there to help her...and that you are her angel. Looking forward to the pix...:D

barkleylove 08-20-2013 03:43 PM

What a great thread! I'm so happy Lola Lulu was rescued by such a caring person.

Nothing from them at all. I've been watching to see if they look for her or try to call her. I really don't care about them and dare them to approach me now. All this little girl needed is some love & care. She is very happy and sticks close to me.

joyce evans 08-21-2013 06:01 AM

Lola has 11:30 vet appt. for check up today. I will find out more about her; approx. age, breed, health condition and more on these pups. I know she is getting close but not sure how close. I think within 10 days. My hands stay on her belly checking for movement and I can swear I'm feeling something. Her belly is getting tighter and milk dropping. Gonna get her nails trimmed as well. I can't understand why they are so long after walking on the pavement like she did. I will hopefully feel better after her check up. I am really getting attached to her!!! I hope that my noisy dogs don't teach her their habits because she is so good!!! :animal36 Will update when we get back...

ladyjane 08-21-2013 06:04 AM

Good luck at the vet this morning Joyce! I had just come along to check to see if there are puppies yet...so happy to hear you will be able to get her to the vet prior to the big event! :)

Awe thank you Linda. I'll update when I get back. This will be her last car ride(hopefully) before the pups come. I really don't want her to have a litter in my car.
I would be the crazy lady running around on the freeway! I will be approaching my hubby about working from home so I can be with her 24-7. I'm sure he will be ok with that. So hopefully No more home alone little Lola. Have a super day my friend, thank you soo much for checking in and I will be in touch.

dollydoodle 08-21-2013 06:28 AM

I've been keeping up with this thread & just have to say you are an inspiration to us all. Thank you for caring for this sweet innocent pup (yes, I think of her as a puppy). I'm excited to hear what the vet has to say, & oh so excited to hear about the births!
Take care!

joyce evans 08-21-2013 10:11 AM

Well looks like I have to re-type my update again. So here goes. Vet check went well. There are 4 possibly 5 pups and they do not appear to be oversize. Lola is heartworm Negative ( Praise GOD)! Vet gave me Iverhart to prevent and to take care of any worms she might have. Lola is approx. 1 yr. old and weighs 16.8 lbs. Vet said Terrior mix but I already knew that (tech said Yorkiepoo and I liked the sound of that)! She got her nails trimmed and vet filled me in on what to look for when she gets ready to deliver. He said she was approx. 50 days along so another 2wks or so and he did not anticipate an problems. I got emergency info. just in case. Today is a good day and Lola & I feel blessed. Thinking of decorating her crate in pink & blue. Oh and FOUR (4) of the techs. vowed to help me rehome the pups. They thought Lola was a cutie!

Anne, not sure about being an inspiration but I try and if everyone would just do as much as they can for any animal in need this world would be a better place. Sometimes it might just be a sip of water or helping a turtle cross the street. Right!! I have been a mess since I nabbed Lola and at least for right now I can breath a sigh of relief. I will probably Will everything to an animal cause when I die. Funny thing is I had never thought about turning my hubby's shop into a shelter but on Saturday I spit that out to him and the look on his face was :eek::eek: It just came out of my mouth like it wasnt me talking. And oh the thoughts that are going thru my head right now??? The good Lord is working on me big time and I think he put Lola out there as a test (I hope I pass). I think I'm getting closer to my calling in this life.

Magnus 08-21-2013 10:34 AM

Wow.. I'm amazed how healthy Lola is considering the environment she was living in. (And yes, thank God!)

Thanks for updating us as I'm sure you have so much going on right now... And I know it's probably a lot to ask but.. PICTURES! I'm just dying to see Lola in all her glory! :D

mimimomo 08-21-2013 10:40 AM

Is someone going to help you w/the whelping? Wow you are amazing, so is your hubby!

Teresiana 08-21-2013 11:07 AM

Oh my goodness...Lola is still a baby herself! And you're absolutely right...if every person just did one kind deed, the world would be a happier place. Bless you.

Good question! I don't have an experienced person to help. I helped with horses but never with dogs. I've watched the birth process take place but never had to assist other than taking one to the hospital for c section. I guess that's why I have been so concerned about little Lola because there were dogs at least 65 lbs. trying to get to her. I did what I could do at the time to stop them but I was not with her 24-7. This was definitely not a planned breeding. I really just hope & pray that I was given correct info. from the vet today. I may get with some other YT'rs to see if anyone would be willing to help. Maybe there is someone closer to me than I know of. We live 20 min. from the closest city.

Oh boy, I sure do hope someone can help you deliver the pups. If not, you can always ask your vet or a vet tech w/experience to be there.
That's a scary thought, hope the bigger dogs didn't get to her.

dollydoodle 08-21-2013 03:53 PM

Gosh, she is just a puppy herself! Please, please, can we see photos? This girl must think she's in heaven.

lexipoo 08-21-2013 04:25 PM

oh Joyce this thread has become such a happy thread...can't wait to see pictures and honestly your truly are an incredible person....so happy Lola has you in her life to help her figure this all out too :D keep is posted and give her a big hug from Lexi and I ok...

baileyz 08-21-2013 06:16 PM

I keep hoping that everything goes good for her and her babies. She reminds me so much of my mom's rescue dog she had a for 14 years. I am so glad there are people like you, who take in these poor babies and give them love and the care they need.

anniernc 08-21-2013 06:36 PM

Just reading this thread and so thankful you took this beautiful girl out of a horrible situation. Praying for a safe and happy delivery.

chestermama 08-21-2013 07:08 PM
