Little Lola (Lulu if you ask my husband) is doing just fine. No puppies yet but she is close. Man has she turned out to be such a little angel. The only time she makes a sound is when I put her in my mother-in-laws fenced in yard so she can potty. She does'nt want me to leave her. I've noticed that she will not pooh in her crate or on a leash so I have to allow her some time to do her thing. Her first night with me I did leave her in my shop office so I would'nt get fleas in my home but Saturday night she stayed in her crate in my house. For a street dog I am amazed that she's not having fits in that crate. She doesn't like it but doesn't complain. I had a issue yesterday here at work and had to come in so I left her at home (I hated too). Today I made a decision to leave her in the fenced in yard because I do not want her to have to hold her bladder all day especially being pregnant. There is so much more to say about her but my time is limited. Have some really cute pictures of her after I cleaned her up. Wish I knew how to attach them??? |
Hope she cannot dig out....plus we have storms today. Pups get scared and dig out of their yards. Also, what if she has puppies outside...eeek I would not leave her in the yard. Either put her in a room or an x-pen ... put pee pads in for her. If she has to go, she will. I guess you opted not to contact Pup Squad? |
I tried to type a response to you Linda but I guess I took too long and YT went down while I was typing. Just wanted you to know that I read your post and will rearrange animals and put Lola in the Ex-Pen like you said. Hannah might not like that too much but hey what is a mom to do. |
You're doing such a wonderful job. :) I can't wait to see pictures!!!! |

Well, I'm going to call her "Lula" from now on. :p I'm so so glad that she has someone to take care of her. What an angel you are! I know you have a lot going on, but thank you so much for keeping us updated. I'll keep my fingers crossed that everything goes well with her puppies & that Lula stays strong and healthy. And because I'm so nosy...just wondering if you've heard from the family across the street from your job. Have they been looking for her at all? Or do they shoot you evil looks from across the street? |
Oh Joyce, I am glad things worked out so well. She was so precious looking in the picture you posted...must have been her sweet personality showing through. She knows you are there to help her...and that you are her angel. Looking forward to the pix...:D |
What a great thread! I'm so happy Lola Lulu was rescued by such a caring person. |

What an angel you are! |
Lola has 11:30 vet appt. for check up today. I will find out more about her; approx. age, breed, health condition and more on these pups. I know she is getting close but not sure how close. I think within 10 days. My hands stay on her belly checking for movement and I can swear I'm feeling something. Her belly is getting tighter and milk dropping. Gonna get her nails trimmed as well. I can't understand why they are so long after walking on the pavement like she did. I will hopefully feel better after her check up. I am really getting attached to her!!! I hope that my noisy dogs don't teach her their habits because she is so good!!! :animal36 Will update when we get back... |
Good luck at the vet this morning Joyce! I had just come along to check to see if there are puppies yet...so happy to hear you will be able to get her to the vet prior to the big event! :) |

I would be the crazy lady running around on the freeway! I will be approaching my hubby about working from home so I can be with her 24-7. I'm sure he will be ok with that. So hopefully No more home alone little Lola. Have a super day my friend, thank you soo much for checking in and I will be in touch. |
I've been keeping up with this thread & just have to say you are an inspiration to us all. Thank you for caring for this sweet innocent pup (yes, I think of her as a puppy). I'm excited to hear what the vet has to say, & oh so excited to hear about the births! Take care! |
Well looks like I have to re-type my update again. So here goes. Vet check went well. There are 4 possibly 5 pups and they do not appear to be oversize. Lola is heartworm Negative ( Praise GOD)! Vet gave me Iverhart to prevent and to take care of any worms she might have. Lola is approx. 1 yr. old and weighs 16.8 lbs. Vet said Terrior mix but I already knew that (tech said Yorkiepoo and I liked the sound of that)! She got her nails trimmed and vet filled me in on what to look for when she gets ready to deliver. He said she was approx. 50 days along so another 2wks or so and he did not anticipate an problems. I got emergency info. just in case. Today is a good day and Lola & I feel blessed. Thinking of decorating her crate in pink & blue. Oh and FOUR (4) of the techs. vowed to help me rehome the pups. They thought Lola was a cutie! |

Wow.. I'm amazed how healthy Lola is considering the environment she was living in. (And yes, thank God!) Thanks for updating us as I'm sure you have so much going on right now... And I know it's probably a lot to ask but.. PICTURES! I'm just dying to see Lola in all her glory! :D |
Is someone going to help you w/the whelping? Wow you are amazing, so is your hubby! |
Oh my goodness...Lola is still a baby herself! And you're absolutely right...if every person just did one kind deed, the world would be a happier place. Bless you. |

That's a scary thought, hope the bigger dogs didn't get to her. |
Gosh, she is just a puppy herself! Please, please, can we see photos? This girl must think she's in heaven. |

I keep hoping that everything goes good for her and her babies. She reminds me so much of my mom's rescue dog she had a for 14 years. I am so glad there are people like you, who take in these poor babies and give them love and the care they need. |
Just reading this thread and so thankful you took this beautiful girl out of a horrible situation. Praying for a safe and happy delivery. |
yay great news, you are truly an angel |
