I just read your whole story just now and it's just lovely. Well done to you for taking Lola in and looking after her and her new additions. It really warms the heart to know that there are still people like you around. Best of luck to you with Lola and do post some pics when you can. Thanks for sharing your story ;) |

Update on Lola and pups: Last Thursday I noticed that one of her breast was very swollen and hard so I called my vet. They said to watch her as it could be that her pups were not sucking on that one. Well this morning her breast rupchured so away to the vet we go. She has an infection in her mammary gland and now cannot nurse her puppies. She got 2 staples, is on antibiotics and pain meds. I just bottle fed 7 puppies and tried to make them potty. I do have a question...Should I take the pups into another room away from Lola or should I let her have some contact with them just not nursing? I could surely use her help with the potty situation! I am worried about Lola and her pups and the infection. She goes back to the vet on Tuesday for possible surgery. Anyone with experience removing week old pups from their mom please feel free to chime in. I need all the help and advise I can get at this point. I have bottle fed before but never this many.:eek::eek: Please excuse my spelling!! |

I think its horrible that all your vet said to do is "watch it"! I nursed 3 babies and never would have believed the amount of pain possible when something isn't right. For her breast to have ruptured must have been excruciating!! It sounds like you really have your hands full now. I will continue to pray for Lola and her babies, and for you. |
Oh no, just when it seemed things were going well. I am so very sorry for this crazy turn of events, and sure wish I could help. You have done so much for Lola and the pups, and now to face this additional challenge is just not fair. Thoughts and prayers are with you, Lola and the pups, and I sure hope someone can give you a hand over the upcoming weeks/months. |
Thank goodness you were there for her. Imagine this all happening under that house and homeless:eek: |
Oh no...not a good time for such a problem to occur. I hope mommy gets a go ahead from the vet on her next visit. {{{Hugs}}} |
Poor Lola.. I am sure your hands are really full now with all of this. I think you are one of the most wonderful people around. You have my deepest respect for all you are doing. I hope someone can help answer your questions and that Lola is better soon. |
Poor baby...as if she hasn't already went through enough. The recent turn of events are a great reminder of how dangerous it can be for a dog to give birth. I only wish her previous owners would have cared about her enough to spay her so she didn't have to go through all of this in the first place. I am just glad she has someone that cares about her and her puppies now!! Thank goodness you rescued her. Can you imagine if she were still under that porch and this happened??? Both mamma and babies would have most likely died. Bless your heart for taking care of her!! You are Lola's little life saver!! |
