Tacky Things People Have Said to You About Your Yorkie I have been having a ball reading capt noonie/Priscilla's thread about our Yorkies being snubbed. Too funny. This thread is kind of a spin off on the snub thread. So, has anyone ever said anything tacky to you about your Yorkie or other pet? For example, I just love when people ask me how much my Yorkie costs. :rolleyes:(I put this on Priscilla's thread so sorry I am repeating.) Also, just love when people drive by and scream, "GET A REAL DOG!" Would love to hear the rude and tacky comments you have heard. :eek::D |
I don't know if these are tacky so much as just weird. We were walking down the street and this guy looks at us and says, "cat killer." Another time, this guy comes up to us and says, "you and your little dog too" and walks off. So we're at the butcher shop buying food for the 4th (they tell us to bring the pup in and everything is behind counters) and this old man kept making comments about barbequing my dog. The butcher interjected but he kept talking! |

I hate that question how much did he cost. I tried once to get around it in a nice way because he was my sisters friend. The guy kept asking. I finally said, are you going to give me the money I paid for him . . . No ?! . . . Now then . . . I think I will keep that piece of information to myself. And walked away. |
Oh . . .can't forget . . . What is he mixed with? . . . . I want to say What is he a salad?! . . . Or i get He looks like a Morkie . . .I say he is a purebred. A Biewer. . . . Then they say I never hear of that. You sure he is not a Morkie. :rolleyes: |
I haven't had a problem, but if someone walked past me and my dog and said something ignorant like that..(cat killer, hamster, etc.) I would just as casual as can be would say "a**hole" and keep walking! no problem. |
I've had a few people call her yappy or comment on yorkie's being a yappy breed. It's really odd because Lola is basically silent, especially in public. When she does bark it's more like talking than barking anyway. *edit* I've also been judged for not adopting from a shelter and lectured about how fragile small dogs are by a pet smart employee. |
I have had been asked the cost of the Morkie, and had someone tell me I bought a "barbie" dog. I don't say how much I paid, but say if my husband and I don't have an issue with what we paid, why should you? As far as Bailey being a "barbie dog" my husband just says, my wife is my princess so I will get her whatever dog she wants. |

I've only got the rat comment from the neighbor at my parents house. He was trying to be funny, and we joke sometimes. But I always have a response for him last time he called Draco a rat it was "you would know you see one every time you look in the mirror" totally silly but some skateboarding kids did the "oooh" and laughs. Also a worker at petsmart asked what breed he was then said he had a long nose for a yorkie. maybe it was my look, but she quickly finished with more "he's soo cute" and baby talk in Draco's direction. |

I must scare rude people off because I have never had anything but nice comments when I take my pups out. |

"Is she a teacup yorkie?" To which I reply, "no, just a regular yorkie, the only kind there is". Thereby avoiding the whole teacup discussion. Usually. :p |
I haven't had any mean stuff said about Joel.....yet. Only that he has big ears for a yorkie but I take that as a compliment LOL actually he has been called "donkey ears" in the mean way but I still like his big ears:D |
I've also gotten the "rat" comment and the "it's not a real dog". Things like that don't bother me. |
When I have Luma and Rosie together out somewhere, and they are fully decked out in pink bows, pink harnesses, pink leash... "Are you going to breed them together?" |
ZoE got called a mouse on a leash. I thought it was hilarious as at just under 10lbs, she's no tiny yorkie. I couldn't stop laughing as the guy that said it was a really short/small guy with a huge dog (I'm not saying he had size issues & was compensating, but....). And, you know how AFTER some incident, you think of really great witty things to say? Well, I was thinking of all the witty comebacks I could have said to him, all they way around the walking trail and was cracking myself up. |
Tacky comments 3 Attachment(s) hahaha I hate when people ask how much she cost. Why do they think they have the right to ask? I just laugh and say, Oh money?? how is that important when it comes to love? They just look at me like I am crazy. Then they ask again. And I say, I don't even remember, how much did your kid cost? They get the idea then. The rat comment I mostly get from guys, they think they are funny, I just laugh. Mostly people tell me I am ruining her by spoiling her lol. But how can I not? Emmie is just so cute. Really though I think they tackiest thing I have been told is that she is not a yorkie at all. That she is a Chihuahua and I should get my money back because I picked up the wrong dog :eek:. That came from one person, but I had a couple people ask me if she was mixed because her ears and snout seemed really big :( It bothered me at first but now I dont care because I love her no matter what she is. (But I am thinking she looks like a yorkie to me!) |

I'm looking for a stud to breed with my female" I get asked this one ALL the time! I find it very tacky, but I guess I should be flattered that everyone thinks Henri is such a stud muffin :cool::p |

The tackiest I have gotten is "that is the ugliesr dog". I just let it roll off my back. But still tacky and from a family member no less. Jasper is adorable. :) |

1 Attachment(s) We were out to dinner one night recently. The girls were dressed up, and Allie was in her stroller. As we walked past, a man sitting at the bar said something like "That's ridiculous! Look at that lady's dressed up guinea pig." My husband stopped, leaned down, picked up Allie, and cuddled her to his cheek. Then he looked the guy square in the eyes, smiled and said "You're right! That IS ridiculous. Allie doesn't belong to my WIFE. She's MY DOG!" The guy took one look at my huge construction worker husband. His eyes got as big as saucers, and he about fell off his bar stool. All of the guy's buddies were on the floor laughing and teasing their friend. We just walked past smiling. I assure you, there were no more guinea pig comments the rest of that night! |
