I hate the teacup comment. "Is he a teacup?" It annoys me because I want to set them straight. I usually say, "No, just a regular yorkie." Copper weighs in at 4 pounds. I sometimes get asked if he is a girl because of the harness vests I make for him. I try to make them like vests and as ungirly as possible. They are the easiest thing for a walk though. Two Velcro strips and they are on with the leash attached. After the walk, the same, unvelcro the two strips and hang up the harness. Some people say, "Dogs shouldn't wear clothes." I'm thinking, "not clothes, a harness vest and easy. Who cares what you think?!" |

HA, nobody has ever ask me if my Yorkies are "Teacups". Not with the smallest one weighing over 8 pounds, and he's just a year old. I have denied that they were Yorkies though... It depends on who's asking. I've had some people as "what" they were, and I could tell they ask "suspiciously", making me think they suspected they were valuable Dogs. I always (in that situation) say they are Norwegian Futzschmakels :D I get some of the craziest looks ;) |
I'll have to agree that the price thing is pretty tacky. And I do get asked all the time. Between good friends, ok. And on here, I get it, but complete strangers? I don't like to say, bc I got totally ripped off by a broker posing as a breeder. I only think when talking about how much things costs, it's fine only if you think you got a great deal. Otherwise I think talking about price is tacky, esp if you are bragging about how much you spent. |
well when I get asked what did I paid for my Teasell. I usually say if you got to ask you can't afford one |

Fizz came into our lives so we coukd see what wonderful dogs Yorkies are. Max and Titus are here because of Fizz. :) So when I hear those comments now, I just feel sorry for the folks who just don't know the real deal. Thier loss. :p |

On the other hand I have to admit I am more than amused thinking about your potential comeback, if someone was rude, since you are one quick witted individual. :eyetearss |

1 Attachment(s) I get the rat comment, but usually it is from me or my husband when I give the boys a bath, they look like drowned rats. I have gotten the chihuahua comment before but that was when teddy had a super short coat ( I clipped off his puppy coat). I do get the teacup comment and inform them he is standard size, but usually those people just don't know. Most of the time I get he is so cute, what is he? Which I answer since they don't usually see a fuzzy little black dog. |
"My dog takes craps bigger than your dog!" Eww, gross! Why even point that out? Are you jealous I don't have that kind of cleanup? (Thank goodness!) The rat comments don't bug me so much. But it is annoying when people call Billi a boy even when she's covered in pink from head to toe & after I tell them she's a girl. Oh, doesn't everyone dress their boy in lil dresses? Or when I tell them her name is Billi-Jane & they correct me "Oh you mean Billi-Jean!" Uh no, I meant Jane, but thanks anyway ;) The how much does she cost question only bugs me, cuz to me anything about price is rude & I never know how to respond! |
Bailey gets the "What a cute girl" I am like he is a boy then the "well all little dogs like that should be a girl" really people.. (i already commented before but thought I should add that since it has happened repeatedly lately) |
I was showing pics of Pinktini at 9 weeks to a neighbor and her husband asked if he could buy her from me for his daughter because he didn't want to go through all the "hassle" of looking for a puppy....I haven't even picked her up from the breeder yet...smdh |
One time I was walking them both and a guy screamed out " I will buy them both at $1 a lb." Then started waving a 20 around. I just ignored him. What is wrong with some people lol |
people say all sorts of weird things thinking they are being funny, but what get's me pizzed it their reference to my dog could take your dog type comments. Like my dog would have yours for snack, or my dog could fit your whole dog in his mouth, or my dog could use yours for bait. These comments have been ongoing for the past 20 plus years and my dogs have averaged 6 lbs, it's not like they are supersmall for this breed. I find those comments insulting and let the person know that I had the weirdest and most disturbing comment this past Monday, I was standing outside of a store in NYC waiting for my cousin. Lola was either in her stroller or on the sidewalk. This weird looking guy comes up to me and starts asking how big is her cookie, or tootie, or hootie or who knew what, since he spoke in that really bad Ubonics type way. Finally he says real slow "I was asking how big her hoochie was because I would like to breed her with my pit bull". I just shook my head in disgust and walked away. |

There are so many Yorkies and very tiny dogs here where I live I guess people are used to them. I've heard guys call small dogs "rats" and things like that generally before or when I was talking about Tibbe at work, a guy might say something about do I really have one of those rat dogs but no one has ever said anything outright tacky to me about any of my Yorkies. Usually if they do say anything, it is nice. And they all want to hold my dog! That really scares me - people just wanting to take your dog or grab it. I just turn away or say "he bites" and things like that. But so far no tacky words. I'm all set though with my come-backs if they ever do! |

I know everyone has the right to their own opinion... but it's just not nice to say something like that. It's like telling a parent that their kid is ugly... Don't be sad. You and BUNCH of other people think she's just precious! |

Generally people come in and say "aw isn't she cute" and I know they are talking about Cali, not me:D Once i heard a male voice behind me make a comment about "such a little dog and all that hair" - didn't really know what he meant then looked up and saw he was a really big man with just about NO hair - jealous maybe! |
Nothing really tacky per se about my three....just one the other day asked if Jersey was a shih Tzu...I said no she isn't, the jerk then told me I was ripped off bc there is no such thing as a Biewer!!! I was not in a good mood...had a hot flash going on...night sweats the night before, up the whole night, etc.... so I wont repeat what I told him...lets just say I wasn't very nice....the hormones spoke, it wasn't really me....:D |
Oh geez... There are way too many comments!! The rat comment is common. Here kitty kitty.... (Not sure what that is even supposed to mean) How much did they cost Why is your dog wearing sunglasses... That's just retarded. Whispers of how dumb it is to dress them up... The stroller just blows people's minds Are they fixed... (This is probably the #1 question asked) and my jaw just drops when people ask if they can use Bryleigh to breed! She weighs 2.4 pounds fully clothed! Morons! I get tons of weirdos saying crap, but I get wayyyyy more great comments, so it's easy to ignore the others! I'm perfectly fine with being a crazy dog mom! And my hubby has proudly taken the role of crazy dog daddy! |
@msyorktown too funny!:bravo: I used the hormone justification all the time when my mouth takes a detour from my "southern upbringing". Like when I was pregnant, my aunt "flo" is visiting, someone ate my last krispy kreme glazed cream filled donut... |

Yesterday I tried a new groomer (awful btw) and she said: Teddy has the smallest p#$#s I have ever seen. Ummm, what? Is that reallt something to comment on? and so tacky! |
@the capt :eyetearss that's what I try to get them to understand but it hasn't sunk in yet apparently...I think I may have to start hiding them...I'm pitiful:D |
