YorkieTalk Newbie! | New baby yorkie Hi. I am new to this forum. I just got my first yorkie. He was 14 weeks old 3 days ago. I took him to the vet today and he only weighs 1 pound 14 oz. His mom weighed 4 pounds and dad was 3 pounds. The vet said he looked very healthy but commented several times about how little he was. I am worried about his weight. I am hoping he gets at least 4-5 pounds. I just want him to be healthy. I love this little guy so much already. Any comments or past experiences would be helpful. Baby Charlie's mom |

| Welcome to Yorkie Talk, and congratulations on your new baby Charlie. He is pretty small, as you might have expected coming from such small parents. Growth charts often say as a rule of thumb, their adult weight will be double the weight at 12 weeks. But, it can vary. There is a lot of new puppy info here that might be helpful to you: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...w-parents.html

YT 2000 Club Member | I have 2 smaller than standard girls. Teeka was about that weight when she was 14 weeks. She is now 1 year and almost 4 pounds. I am still hoping she will gain some more weight as she gains some muscle. I would think, he will be around 4 pounds as an adult. Tatiana was a lot less than that and she is 7 months and about 2 1/2 pounds. You just need to take extra care and feed 4 times a day with a nutritious kibble.

| I'm in the same situation, except my yorkie is 1pound and he's about to be 12 weeks on aug 8. I'm worried myself about his weight and health, his health especially since he's not the best eater and has already experienced a drop in blood sugar levels when I first got him. No worries your not the only one, but I hope everything goes well. |

| Welcome to Yorkie Talk and congratulations on your new baby! Charlie is a tiny one. I'm sure other people here with smaller puppies will be able to answer any questions you may have. Share pictures when you can.

| Welcome to YT! I have larger 7-8 pound Yorkies, but I think Deb1 gave you good advice about eating frequent meals. I wouldn't worry too much Maybe have some Nutrical on hand in case of low blood sugar. Congrats on your new puppy! Looking forward to pictures!
