| Kennel Cough I received an email from my vet alerting all of the families that they have been treating allot of babies for Kennel cough they are making sure everyone is getting their bordetella shots, and that they continue to get a vaccine every 6 months until the issue of the outbreaks are resolved. The email says that there are several boarding and grooming locations involved in the St Louis area.... is anyone else having this outbreak in their area?

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | I know about the area you live in. However, the bordetella shot every six months is a standard procedure especially for doggie day care in my area. Normally, their only annual shots. NOTE: Sabu has had kennel cough once. The worst thing about it is the horrid cough sound. For us, it was so bad, I put him in his crate at night till he got better. For Sabu, it was handled with a prescription for a week. Till then, we dealt with that couch. You would have thought rather than bringing up a hairball, it was a tennis ball

| I haven't heard about KC around here. Weird though with reports that the vaccine is ineffective and sometimes causes KC. I'd be sure to ask the vet if the dogs that have KC had been vaccinated...

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | At least for my doggie day care, I have to prove verification of Julie and Sabu's updated rabies and bordetella shots. Starlette

| I believe groomers, boarding/kennels, and daycare are going to be the last folks to change the rules/requirements. It's hard enough to get a group of vets to agree on many issues, lol.

| Charlie gets vaccinated once a year however I do not board him anywhere and Petco requires me to show proof once a yr that he has been vaccinated (tag or certificate from the vets office) I just found it so interesting that it was so bad here this is the firs time Ive been notified so it must not have been an issue before.
