| How long do your puppies sleep for and how often? I thought I posted about this when Bella was a babydog (that's what I call puppies), but I can't find it. Gypsy is sleeping a *lot*. I just played with her for only an hour, around the livingroom. She chased her squeaker a lot, gnawed on a few things, played a gentle little tug-of-war and chased Bella (who is back to herself after an ugly illness) around the livingroom a little. ...now Gypsy is fast asleep yet again after only an hour of playtime. Is this normal? She sleeps about 4 hours at a time and then plays for maybe an hour to an hour and a half and then she eats a tiny bit and then goes back to sleep for another 4 hours. I know our babydogs are a lot like human babies in that they need a lot of sleep, but I just want to make sure this is normal. I thought Bella (as a puppy) was up for a really long time before she decided to zonk out. Last but not least, it totally amazes me how awesome Bella is with Gypsy. When she plays with us she's kind of rough, and yanks toys around like they're sewer rats or something...and she tears off around the house like a bat out of hell, but when it comes to Gypsy she never touches her, bites her, smacks her with her paws, nothing. She jumps over her, around her, races away from her and then back to her, and smacks her paws all over the floor in front of Gypsy's face...but never touches her at all. When Gypsy bites her too hard, Bella barks at her really loud, but it's not a snarly bark, just a "HEY! that hurt!" and Gypsy stops biting. Crazy how much a dog can change when there's a little one around. |

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | How long do your puppies sleep for and how often? As much as they want and as often as they want! Normally after play time or a walk, having a good chew or pretty much any time of day or night. Your right pups are like human babies they need their sleep and will sleep every chance they get. My dogs sleep about 65% of the day off and on all day long. You''ll want to keep you eye one your pup so they don't wonder off when they wake up and go piddle on the floor. Normally when my pups fall asleep I carry them to their cage where they can sleep. It the best and safest place for them to be. That way they don't get into any trouble when they wake up. Plus it helps condition them to getting use to the cage and find out that it is not such a bad place to be.
